Without Manziel, we are not a good football team THIS year. But we do have Manziel this year and we are a good football team because of it.
If we are projecting in the future, our better(I believe) and more complete roster will make us more than a one man show like we are now.
Agree.

I'm not saying every D A&M fields would be a dumpster fire; just not elite.
It is an attitude. Physicality is built in the trenches and in the huddle. The O says..."let's bullldoze these motherfrickers".... the D waits, they stare and salivate... tension builds and they go at each other with balls. It not about running many plays it is about imposing your will on the opponent.
The up tempo philosophy eliminates that.... it is more like "hurry up before they line up, let's catch 'em up of guard". There is nothing wrong with what A&M does is just not conducive to that type of defensive play.
Translation: "I'm wrong so I'm gonna make up some bullshite reasoning like a player's mentality and not physical ability is the determining factor in how points get scored."
Look dude, I reject your premise, if I put the 85 bears defense on this A&M team, they would murder every SEC team and be glad doing it. Your argument is borderline retarded.

You're wrong.
I'm not going to start listing our offensive players who would start anywhere--it's clearly pointless. But let's just say more than a handful of em will be among the first players drafted by the NFL.

r2d2...anyone who has lined up agst A&M's OL would argue that they are NOT physical. THe Offense only works if you win the battles up front also.

You're wrong if you don't think Manziel is your offense right now and you'd be fairly pedestrian without him. I don't have time to break out his stats-clearly pointless.
ETA- yes, you have some receivers/O line that will be drafted.

You don't have to break out his stats for me. They're freakish. I never said otherwise.
I said that our offensive unit is outstanding.
It is.

I say this tongue in cheek, but Matt Joekel scored 28 points in the first half against Rice and Manziel only scored 24 in the second half.

Was the 85 Defense built defending a spread in practice? You are retarded.
I said A&M would not be anything special on Defense as long as they have their current priorities. On the other hand I think even without JFF they should always be pretty good on O and would move the ball and score well most years and games.

"Without Manziel what's your record this year? He's your entire offense right now."
uh..NOT even close, he makes it go unlike any other, but we've got 5 future NFL OL, as well as several NFL caliber talents at WR & RB.
OF COURSE if you take one of the most dynamic talents at QB in the last 20 years off our team, we wouldn't be as good...DUH!!

They are good no doubt. I never said they are not. A&M will always be good to elite on O with their current staff and priorities.

r2d2..You've never SEEN an A&M practice have you?
You have no idea the different periods, best on best, 11/11 drills they do.
Whwn we have the EXPERIENCED talent, we will be good...we were top 1/2 SEC last year, but those guys are gone.

I would argue that you haven't really seen A&M's offense yet - it is the "one man" show. But A&M has a LOT of talent on offense that isn't being utilized, as we saw against Arkansas in the downpour. Our RB's are elite talent, especially Trey Williams. The offensive line is even better this year, after all the doom and gloom predictions last year.
The WR's are incredibly talented, to the point the upperclassmen had to step up their game to keep their positions. Our offense is going to be good for quite a while, especially the way that Sumlin recruits.
Now, what happens when we can actually field a decent SEC defense as well? In two years time you will see a drastically different, and much deeper A&M team than today. Remember, as awesome as Peyton is, Tennessee didn't win it all until he left. It takes a team, not one guy.
If Manziel would come back next year, you could just pencil us in for the MNC game. But that isn't going to happen

It 's an opinion, but an informed one. Tell me one pure spread team (either the Oregon zone read kind or the Mike leach pass happy type) that has at the same time fielded a true elite D like LSU, Bama, usc an the likes have fielded at one point or another the las 10 or so years. Just one name, I can't think of a single one. Oregon has been good on D at times... But elite not even close.
Oklahoma in 2000 (Mike Leach was their O/C in 1999)
Florida in 2008

A&M scored 29.

No I haven't, but practice time is limited for every team. Teams choose their priorities. A&M's O looks very well polished running their no huddle system. I'm sure they practice it a ton.
When teams try to do too much usually results aren't good. LSU with Crowton tried to do too mucho they did a little pistol, zone read, power, option.. but didn’t do anything particularly well.
We'll see, it goes in cycles. Right now the Os seem to have the upper hand but it changes.
