What would playing games at Grant Field allow them to do that they don't already do?
Who brings recruits to a road game in a tiny stadium with a lousy gameday atmosphere?

GT isn’t even trying anymore. They’re like UC Berkeley in football. Just going through the motions to pay for other sports.

Other than a couple thousand fair weather fans GT doesn’t give a damn about football or any other sport. I don’t know why they bother. The stadium should be condemned and the few fans who actually show up seem more interested in flipping the bird and yelling obscenities at their visitors than actually watching the game. The last time Georgia played in that decrepit old stadium the place was packed with UGA fans. The GT cheerleaders near the n stands had to resort to cheering in front of stands filled with Georgia fans. Between the 2 team sidelines, lower level UGA sections and huge areas of red spread all around the stadium that’s where they ended up. They couldn’t find a section that had a noticeable number of GT fans to cheer in front of

Also, it should be capital in this context. See my aforementioned comments on the SPED class of heartland PA.

Minimal fan support and no new TV footprint. They would no grow the pie for everybody.

You think we need 2 Vandy’s?

It’s all good for them to die on the vine

There's actually some light chatter about UGA dropping them from the schedule.
By anyone remotely involved in managing the university, athletics, booster involvement, or state government, no there is most certainly not.

GaTech values the AAU. Their president and faculty would prefer the B10. idc if they return to the SEC, but they are going B10

Damn, that in state tuition is kinda high.

UGA fans are incapable of giving a fair analysis of this issue

They bring nothing to the table, besides academics, which doesn’t move the needle.

I mean, GT brings absolutely nothing to the SEC. Clemson and FSU do.
If you care about academics then both UNC and UVA are better additions than Tech.

GT relies on visiting fans for much of that. I remember one season where UGA was playing at Tech and they were selling 3 game packages of home tickets that UGA fans bought up to get the UGA game. It was funny because there was another game where UGA had a bye... so about 15,000 UGA fans showed up and cheered for Maryland or NCSU or whoever it was since they had already bought the tickets.
I bought this package. I was at this game. Also came with 4 free hot dogs, and cokes. Can’t remember what I paid, but it wasn’t much, and it was fun seeing a whole bunch of Georgia fans at their ACC games lol. Their fans, that actually attended the games were pissed.

I disagree. I think we know more about why they should never be allowed back in than anyone

I went to a GT home game when they were ranked in the top 10 years ago and there were still almost 15k empty seats even with the bullshite announced attendance.

Kinda sad really. It’s a great place to watch a ball game with a great backdrop. I’ve always enjoyed watching games there, there may be a reason for that though!
