The college football playoff committee recognizes power 5 conferences and the group of 5 conferences. There is nothing arbitrary about it. UCF (and the AAC) like to try and create something that doesn’t exist (like a national championship and power 6 conference reference).

Actually no. P5 was a term created by ESPN talking heads and it was pulled out of thin air.
As for the CFB powers that be it's blatantly horseshite as several of the so called P5 conferences consider BYU and Army as P5 equivalents for scheduling but will not do the same for schools like Navy or Boise State. That my friend is arbitrary.

What the frick are you talking about? #1 Boise St is treated as a P5 opponent for most conferences. And it's not done randomly or without reason, it's done because they are usually a quality team.
The entire reason for that rule is just to ensure teams get a somewhat quality OOC opponent.
So it's done for very specific reason, the exact opposite of arbitrary.
And the same can be said for "P5". There are very specific requirements, those conferences weren't decided randomly. Go look at revenue, attendance, win% and so on and the P5 conferences will on average be ahead. Hell you can even see it in the coaching ladder.

If UF is too cowardly to play UCF on a neutral site, winner take all game then pack bags and head over and play your new rival USF. Both teams deserve each other. Meanwhile, UCF will be headed to the Cotton bowl this season. NY6 is exactly where we belong so everyone get used to it.

Who is UCF again?

P6 is just as real as P5.
It is as real a concept.
It is not as “real” with regards to consensus.

Nah.

They most certainly recognize the group of 5 being a different “class.”
You know UCF only gets into these bowl games because they’re the best team of the “group of 5.” It’s an exception to allowing one of those teams into the NY6 bowl games. Clearly there’s a distinction and the committee sees it. You should be happy there is such a rule, otherwise you would never play in the NY6

I have no problem with P6. I think an argument can be made that over the past 4-5 years the AAC has had equivalent talent to the PAC12 top to bottom and certainly among the top tier programs in each conference. One thing for sure, the trends for each conference are heading in opposite directions to the point that West Coast football won’t be competitive with the AAC or any other P5 conference in a few years.

Please read up on Mizzous recent school history before respecting anything about them.
