I am getting alot of flack over my own opinion. Unlike most Arkansas fans, I am not just looking at the now but also the future. One of the reasons it is hard to recruit here is because of racism. I am Black and I don't use the racism card but I call it how it is. Let's be real, if McGee would have said that he wanted to come back, honestly would he get hired? I have seen fans for Arkansas and other teams here that stated that they are not fans of their respected teams.

So if a fan said they aren't a fan, are they really a fan?

I'm confused.

Do you know for a fact McGee wasn't hired because he was black? If not, then STFU. Maybe McGee didn't want to leave UAB before he coached a game.

Maybe they didn't want to hire an unproven HC long term like McGee? I think giving an unproven HC who has only had around 2 years experience as a coordinator at the college level would not have been a good choice, no matter who it is.

I know sometimes it seems racist, but truthfully, it seems like one of the reasons they picked JLS is that he knows Petrino and his style better than most, having worked with him as much as he has. In this situation, it seems like they were trying to find someone who had coaching experience and who wouldn't upset the order of things. That said, you are certainly entitled to your opinion, and I'm sure that you see things that I don't because of your experiences.

He also was more high profile than Smith, and not that it mattered, but there was a little controversy with the DUI and the whole robbery thing. I'm not saying that should make any difference, but public perception is a little bit shaky right now, and what a team can tolerate in normal circumstances is negated with current scandal. They may not have wanted to touch it.

Because just like you, we're allowed to have an opinion about your shitty opinion.

Do you normally contradict yourself like this?
Why do you think racism has anything to do with recruiting players or coaches for Arkansas? Honest question.

Back off, he's UAB's head coach now. Y'all can't have him back.

It amazes me how some whites on here that live in Arkansas don't see Arkansas as being a racist state.

What's the problem? Arky will have a decent or good year with Smith, and have the whole 2012 season to figure out who to hire permanently. They surely told Smith he was there for one year take it or leave it, so even if he wins the SEC ( ) he'll leave graciously per the agreement and life goes on. Arky's recruiting won't be hurt if you get a decent hire for 2013 and beyond. Lotta drama queens running around the decks of the Hogship.

I truly feel that Jeff Long has made the wrong decision and I think that race played a part. McGee was the best choice for the job but this state is so fu*king racist that many fans wouldn't want to see a Black head football and Black basketball coach. This is a sad day for Razorback nation...
