Sept. 1 L vs. Clemson (Atlanta)
Sept. 8 W at Mississippi State
Sept. 15 W ULM
Sept. 22 L LSU
Oct. 6 L ARKANSAS
Oct. 13 W at Ole Miss
Oct. 20 W at Vanderbilt
Oct. 27 W TEXAS A&M
Nov. 3 W NEW MEXICO STATE (HC)
Nov. 10 L GEORGIA
Nov. 17 W ALABAMA A&M
Nov. 24 L at Alabama

I agree with Vegas. 7-5. I originally thought aTm would beat AU but I have changed my mind. For AU to win 9 games, they would need to win all their easy games, plus MSU and aTm which are not a given by any means, then win 2 games from the murders row of Clemson, LSU, Arkansas, UGA, and Bama. All 5 of those teams are likely preseason top 10. I don't see that happening.

Clemson=W
MSU=Win
ULM=W
LSU=Loss
Arky=Win
Ole Miss=Win
TAMU=Win
New Mexico St=W
UGA=Loss
Alabama A&M=W
Bama=Closer than people think......but loss

My objective take on Gene is this: His first season, they improved, second season they won a title and then won 8 games with a TON of youth starting. This is the year where I think we will have a true barometer of his coaching ability.

Side Note: Everyone says that he won a national title simply because he had Cam Newton, but in my mind thats irrelevant, and if it has any relevence it actually shows that he is a great coach. Does it make him less of a "coaching genius" simply because he has one really exceptional player, and wins a title? Alabama had what may be the greatest college defense of all time, and arguably the best running back since Adrian Peterson, a ton of upper classmen starting, and lost to LSU, but still won a title. I guess I have a hard time understanding how winning with less over-all talent makes him any less of a coach than the other title winning coaches in the conference. That being said...

A BCS title at a school like AU would buy him at least another year, even if he went 6-6.

We had a more difficult murderers row last year and won two of those. We should be better this year.

AU played 6 teams last year that finished with great records. Clemson, Arkansas, LSU, South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama. AU went 1-5 against those teams.

Miles is 3-3 against Saban. You think Miles is better than Saban? I think Spurrier is a better coach.

Don't let facts get in the way of another AU bashing thread on the rant.

Plus, you are right it is 3-0.

True, but heading into the season most predicting the AU meltdown thought we would lose to MSU, USCe and UF as well. We won all of those. My point was, this schedule looks easier this year than it did last year at the same time. We don't know what is going to happen.

good point... We beat the teams on our level last year -- MSU, UF... beat one team better than us -- USC... and lost the rest handily -- CU, Ark, LSU, Bama.

We'll be more talented, more experienced, better coached, and have an easier schedule... I think it could mean anywhere from 8 wins to 10.

Clemson is even bigger for Auburn than some think. A win here and it really gets things rolling with positive momentum. I think they may win 10.
