RPI #17 /=/ RPI top 10.

State won't host if they don't finish in the top 4 of the league IMO.
This is bullshite -- and it's bullshite to a larger extent this year than it's ever been in the past. The parity is gone from the conference schedule with each team missing 3 opponents making conference record basically worthless now. We miss Mizzou, Tenn, and UGA from the east -- we are the only team that misses all 3.

So far, State has lost every series they have played against good competition.
By this reasoning, so have you.
RPI #8 MSU is 12-8 vs the RPI top 50 -- we are 18-0 against teams outside the top 50 and have only played 3 games against sub-200 RPI teams(3-0). We are 8-7 in conference.
RPI #47 Arky is 9-8 vs the RPI top 50 -- 5-2 vs RPI 51-100 -- and have losses to an rpi 101-200 AND a SUB200 RPI team. You have played 12 against sub-200 RPI teams and lost one. You are 9-6 in conference and won a home series against us.
Right now, today, MSU resume > Arky resume.

no we didnt even make the tournament
Exactly. So how does that instance imply that RPI is not a heavy factor in determining host sites?
Fact is, no team in the history of the tournament has hosted with an RPI even CLOSE to Arky's current. Their RPI needs report shows they need an actual(adjusted) WP of .760 in the remaining games to make the RPI top 16.
They have 12 at home and 12 on the road and every single one of those games are loseable or winnable given the nature of their hitting. If they go 7-5 on the road and 10-2 at home, that's an RPI adjusted WP of 9.1-3.5 on the road and 7-1.6 at home. 16.1-5.1 = .759 -- and they are hosting. That means they've got to take 17 of these 24(and the road games are the key -- lose ANY more than 5 of them and they can't make the top 16 even if they are perfect at home)

I think what it really implies is that the selection committee is going to look to screw the SEC somehow and will use whatever nonsense reason they want to justify it.

That may be true. But would it not also say that in this case, they are even more likely to hose Arky -- since NO SEC team that finished outside the RPI top 17 has hosted since prior to(at least) 2007? In that timeframe, QUITE a few SEC teams have hosted with 17-13 conference records and good RPI's -- while some have been shortchanged with better conference records and worse RPI's...
Bottom line -- MSU finishes 17-13 in conference, in the RPI top 10, with 40+ regular season wins against an easy top 10 SOS, we are hosting...

bad OOC and high RPI will cost yall a chance to host if yall win less than 20 SEC games.

the Piggies need to read this statement a few times so that they may comprehend it
