Maybe. All I know is our down field passing will be much improved and if our running game is just equal to last year's (#1 in SEC) then this offense will be improved.

I sure am glad I've seen my team play in 3 NCG's over the last decade. I'd hate to follow some team that never makes it.

Weak secondary.

It was a redzone scrimmage, genius.

Yes it should be much better than the last few games, can't be worse.

The passing was fine until JJ was inserted. Lee was #1 in SEC through about eight games. Will be hard for a new starter to top that.

Again comes down to coaching, will Les continue to ride Ware, Mr.3.99 or will he let the more talented players get more carries.

Wait so of 120 plays in the redzone, he only had 5 TD's?

I never stated McElwain and TR were the reasons Bama was good on offense last year.

Then what was?

What? Watch the Arkansas and UGA games. You know we set an SEC record for no 1st downs in the first half vs UGA, right?

JJ was awful, and he showed it most in our final 3 games.

Okay, I'll rephrase. We ran the ball effectively and were a very good scoring offense all season. We did have games where I was sort of "WTF" but we also had times when we couldn't be stopped offensively like the second half of the Georgia game. But we also had games like Kentucky. So you're right, to a degree. JJ wasn't the only awful quarterback at times.

Miles stated many of his touchdowns were in situational redzone plays.

OL will always be most important grouping while Saban is there. That's why next year could be shaky unless he develops some guys this year, which I don't expect him to do.

McElwain was also very good, I posted earlier today that I have concerns with a new guy.

The fact both LSU and Alabama have so many returners on the line is a reason for my optimism on offense as an LSU fan. I assume you're the same.

LSU #1 SCORING OFFENSE IN SEC LAST SEASON

Not exactly. Take away points contributed by defense and ST and LSU's offense did not lead the SEC in points scored.

No. It's a fact. LSU had the #1 scoring offense last year. Exactly #1

That's all I was asking for. My main point was we have a lot of room to build on. To sit around and say we had the number 1 offense in the SEC and not look at the big picture just didn't sit well with me. We moved the ball, but at times struggled to get momentum going. That inconsistency built as the season progressed for a number Of reasons.

I would like to see a little more consistency from the offense as a whole, and not just the QB. There were a number of issues that effected the direction offense last year. Some we can correct, and some we just have to work around.

We really need to get these younger guys more experience since we lose many players this year. The sooner we can move to backups the better.

Actually you finished 2nd again, this time to Arkansas and only by a full point.

I agree with you. There are certainly areas that we need to improve upon as an offense. No doubt about it. My confidence stems from returning the offensive line and losing some of the lesser players on that line, returning every running back from a team that ran for 2800, a new quarterback, and Odell in his second year.

When I said in the SEC I'm only referring to league play -- But yeah...you got me on that.

Good concise post. Can't really argue with anything you said. Good luck with your season.
