A&M/the SEC is already in those (other) markets.
The deals aren’t negotiated based on how many additional folks tune in.

LOL.

The SEC already signed a $3 billion deal with Disney...this is why Texas and OU is knocking at the door with hat in hand...

Their conference is getting left behind and its their own damn fault...

While having atm in the SEC gives it presence in the Texas TV market, its muted because its just atm. You might get some casual viewers but most Texas, OU and other fans dont give a shite. But if Texas and OU come in, the deal changes. Pretty much all eyes in the state will be interested...and that leads to a big contract re-negotiation of rates.

With ESPN being able to kill the Longhorn network and them owning the SEC network and likely getting all the rights on broadcasting then a big renegotiation is very possible. Reports suggest "at least" a $10M increase per school per year. Texas would leave $15M a year on the table if they kill LGN but sounds like they like the long term play with the SEC versus that guaranteed cash (at least for a few more years)

Not enough for it to be worth it. That’s the only answer you need.

tu wouldn't be leaving that money on the table because ESPN would not offer it again.

Right now the Big 12 contract generates around 200 M a year. That is for 12 (10? How many do yall have?) teams. tu and OU make up the most, but how much really do you think they generate moving forward. I would need to be 80% of the 200 M.

See page 2 for my calculation.

The Big 12 contract was about $385 million plus the LHN and Ou Tier 3 in 2019. There result is about $10 million extra per team.

ESPN isn't just going to roll the Big 12 money into the SEC deal because TX and OU join. Were talking one addition SEC Conference Football game each week of the season. The OOC games on TV don't mean much.
