How many aTm fans are gay?
I mean, that narrative is pushed here as much as the Bama/sidewalk fan narrative, right?

Can you actually back yours up though?

Well, yeah, I could send you a copy of my transcript.
Could you provide evidence that you're not gay?

I think they graduate about 10,000 people a year. Their enrollment jumped up really high in the last years though. Average that out by 5 million fans. I would say between 40,000 to 50,000 alumni are currently living.
Interesting. So Alabama alumni all die four to five years after graduating? This math is insanely illogical.

Was coming to post the same thing.
Assuming a life expectancy of about 70 years and that most college students start at 18, that means the 1966 freshman should still be alive (52 years). Now, UA wasn't graduating 10k back in '66 but I would put the number of living alumni closer to 500k than 50k.

Yes I think A&M is at or pushing 400,000 living alumni so I'd guess Alabama is at least over 300k.

What's odd is they have really high out-of-state student body percentage. I guess UofA doesn't like Bama fans either

That was all former President, Dr. Whit, and it was genius. He realized that a student from AL and a student from out of state use the exact same amount of classroom space and resources but one of them pays 3 times more than the other. That additional revenue frees up more money for expansion, scholarships, recruiting, etc. That change in demographics is one of the main reasons UA has been able to offer more scholarships than other schools and continue the campus upgrades at a record pace.

The question was about T-shirt Fans......all pro teams are made up of T-shirt fans.
Isn't that the only type of fan a pro team can have?

I have been doing a little scientific observation. Been traveling the last few weeks, so I've worn an LSU pullover in airports, around town. I've actually gotten a lot of random interactions.
Direct LSU fan: 6/7 or 7/8 attended and/or had a child attend/attending.
Direct Bama fan: 1 of 9 or 10 attended
No affiliation: about 7 of 10 or 11 rooting for LSU.
Houston, Dallas, Kansas City, Indianapolis.
Results: 90% sidewalk fans. 70% national disdain for Bama.
Science.

Pro teams have no affiliation with any institution that can be attended.
Should fans of pro teams consist of only residents of the city that team is located in?

It COULD be...and I'm just guessing here...that the number of Alabama residents attending has held relatively steady. Where the out of state student population has exploded over the past 10 years.
It's a focus of the University. They pay triple the money.
We've gone from under 20k (when I was there, and yes I was there) to nearly 40k. Most of that is out of state.
And this "sidewalk fan" thing gets brought up all the time. Yes, when you have a program that has been this good for this long (especially in the last 10 years) you get sidewalk fans. Auburn picked them up int the 80s. LSU picked them up more recently. Miami had their share.
It's a byproduct of being good. Sorry if that's not the case with the Aggies.

The real question is
How many will remain “Bama fans” when Bama starts losing again.
You don’t have to have attended a college to be a fan of their sports team but if you jump ship based on wins and loses, that makes you a douche. Most Bama fans fit this category.

Most fans of any team own tee shirts.
Licensed product sales go up with success. I wish we had more “tee shirt” fans and “side walkers” because that would mean we were consistently great.
13-2,8-5,7-6,8-5,10-4 does not get the “sidewalk” excited.
12-2, 13-1,13-1,etc works better to create a larger base.
Gus May figure this out when he gets to Columbus. I wish him the best.
