January 1, 1926 is probably the only day in southern football history that the entire South cheered for an Alabama football team.

What about 1/9/12? Alabama and Arkansas fans were cheering for Alabama and everyone else was for LSU.

I wouldn't talk, UGA did the same thing with 1942 almost 50 years later.

I wanted Bama to win, thought it would be cool to have 3 SEC teams with 2 BCS titles.

One of Bama's SEC titles should belong to Auburn. How the frick did Bama get to play an extra SEC game??

Happened all the time before standard scheduling was introduced. Actually, one year Bama was denied an SEC title due to UGA (i think) having 1 extra SEC game that season. So, it went both ways.

Plus, back then teams basically controlled their schedules, not so much the SEC. So, Bama being the biggest and baddest SEC team...everyone wanted to play them considering you would have a much greater shot at getting televised if Bama was your opponent.

SEC schedules were not standardized to a set number of in-conference games. Bryant used it to his advantage to schedule an extra game against a bottom feeder like Vandy whenever possible. Pretty smart move by Bryant.

Not that it really mattered much because from 1971-1981, Alabama only lost 4 in-conference games.

In 1976, the extra game Alabama played actually cost them the SEC title to UGA. UA went 5-2 and UGA went 5-1.....UGA won the SEC crown.

other examples:

1966 = Alabama played 6 SEC games; Ole Miss played 7

1967 = Alabama played 6 SEC games; Kentucky played 7

1968 = Alabama played 6 SEC games; Kentucky played 7

1969 = Alabama played 6 SEC games; UT, KY, and AU played 7

Yeah, LCT exposed him as a Mizzou fan. He's just posing as an Auburn fan.
