I think UGA would have a better selection of coaches than Bama or Texas. Their fan base has shown themselves to be patient and less demanding than those schools.
I really think there is some merit in this line of thinking.

One big reason I say keep Richt, I must admit.

let's be real here "processing is bull from a player's perspective, it screws them out of an education they and there parents were promised).
I understand what you are saying, but how many of those guys do you believe are truly there for their education? MOST,IMO use college as a way to go Pro. Look at the graduation rates for this hint. My opinion....

So you're saying the fan base would do a complete about-face once Richt was gone and demand immediate success from the next coach? You could be right which would make any AD ill

The other issue is the old phrase, one in the hand vs two in the bush. With Richt, you know what you are going to get and UGA administration doesnt want another UF/muschamp or even worse UT post fulmer situation. Its one thing to have a forced hand in new coach hiring, its another to cause the issue yourself.

I THINK what he meant (or at least I read it this way) that if you fire someone like Richt, other coaches see red flags...your reputation for being patient, or fair goes out the window.

Also, who wants to come in and coach a program that just fired a consistent 10-game winner? What happens if you try and install new systems, go 5-7 in year one, and become public enemy #1 for fans who don't remember what it's like to miss a bowl? You're dropping yourself into a situation to get nuked.

I gotta say, man...what started off as (what I cosidered) a troll thread turned into a pretty good discussion.

It's all about the bait and hook. Seems like the only way to get people's attention around here is to start off troll-y and hope you can steer the thread in a positive direction. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't

This is true. It's refreshing to have a sane, normal conversation in here!
