See its not hard to find 10 coaches whom some would rank higher. I think he is great, but my response was to the guy who said he is elite coach at whatever program he is coaching at and that just isn't true. 2 good season at Ark doesn't make you elite.

Golden is not better just my choice cuz Golden played in Happy Valley

Would you care to share those with us? If you are thinking of his leaving the Falcons, be sure to get the WHOLE story, and also if you are thinking of Auburn courting him while Tubbs was still the coach - who instigated that? Was it Petrino? Or some Auburn booster?
Yes his Atlanta debacle( whether you Ark fad wanna admit it or not he looked like a POS after this.) I'm sure if the recruit knew the whole story behind the Falcons story, he would view petrino diff, but that is my point. If a recruit isn't familiar with CBP all he sees is that he left a team mod season an informed said team by a note. Then he sees all Falcons players calling him a coward. Next is the way he acted during the LSU game. Again, if a recruit is not familiar with CBP all he sees is a coach whom was acting childish on the sidelines.
Both of those are national news that recruits see on espn. If the recruit would take time for CBP to explain himself then I'm sure the recrut would think diff.

I'm pretty sure Petrino is the best college coach of the modern era and it really isn't even close.

Exactly. Ark fans take it as a slight that some don't put him in the top 10. What ha e done to be considered a top 10 coach. The last 2 years have been his best at Ark and each year the final poll has them at best 3rd in the west. Again I think he is a great coach but not top 10. I do think he would e good at a plae like Texas that recruits itself

Those Arkansas fans are a funny bunch. You know, I heard a rumor that them boys think their shite don't stink.

Only 3 coaches have taken 2 different schools to BCS games. Petrino's one of them, and he did it with Louisville and Arkansas during a time when the West was as difficult as any division in history. There was a reason Petrino was hired to be the Atlanta Falcons head coach - he was one of the best college coaches in the game and still is.

There's not a football team in the world that wouldn't trade their current coach for BP. He's that good.

Blank was actually the POS in the Falcons deal if you know the whole story.
As far as the LSU game deal, find me a coach or at least a competitive coach, that hasn't uttered some profanity in the heat of battle. Only difference this time is that CBS thought it would be cute to show a slow motion replay, since they missed showing it live. Les is a smug POS himself and probably deserved the 'for you, my friend'.
ETA: And it's unfortunate I suppose that our job was open before Petrino's season was finished in Atlanta. He was going to leave the Falcon's anyway, but the Hog job wouldn't wait on him. He had to take it while it was available. So blame US for part of that.

I don't think any one is saying that but if my coach was Muschamp most would trade for Petrino.

Yeah. Blank is a poop head meanie. BP should have left a few nights earlier IMO FWIW.

I don't feel slighted by opposing fans' view of Petrino. I just wanted to know the 10 you'd take before him. For as terrible a "program" as most of you say Arkansas is and the fact the you said he wasn't a good enough recruiter I'd find it hard to argue that he wasn't the best coach in the country considering what he's been able to do at a shitty program with average at best recruits.

How is Urban's health going? Is he getting to be the family man that he wanted to be since leaving Florida?

I have no idea about Urban's health. Care to enlighten me? I'm not sure what Uran, the coach at OSU, has to do with this thread.

He has done nothing to warrant that. Also not many coaches move around as much as Petrino has. Most coache that win a BCS game don't change schools, so that accolade isn't the tits. What has Petrino won that warrants top 10 status.

What has Les done to warrant being cursed out by an opposing coach? Also no it's not something that happens often. Hence te media play it received. You don't see coaches, whom are supposed to set an example, hurling f bombs at opposing coaches.
