I am thinking five to seven years. I don't think Pruitt can turn this program around and he will be gone in three years. He is a good coordinator when he has tons of talent. He is in way over his head at Tennessee and it will be awhile before someone new can come in there and save the program. Not trying to bash the program I just think it keeps getting uglier before it gets better.

Two years of top fifteen recruiting classes will have Tennessee back to competing for eastern division titles.

He won't get 5 to 7 years unless you are using an extremely high bar when you say rebuild

Not trying to bash the program...the bullshet detector is beeping

JMO JP has to get the attention of the current roster and learn those that have the heart to play and cull the rest. Year one could be tuff but year two will have 10RC starting to play solid football. Beating Kirby and the Dawgs is going to be big trouble for all East teams and most of the rest as well.

I am saying he is gone after three years and they will be a contender again in 5 to 7.

2-3 years to filter out the dogshit pussies leftover from Lyle. This staff will recruit lights out so worst case scenario, we have a roster stocked with goons that can be sold To whoever the next guy is 4 years from now

I mean, Lyle had us in the top 10 in 4 years. Lyle.

No reason they shouldn't be good within 3 years. If the guy can do X's & O's they'll be playing for the East in 2019. If the guy can only recruit then he won't get it done and the process will start over in 2021.

The roster is 12th or something in talent according to 247 but is probably being a little generous. Junior and senior classes are okay. Sophomore class is horrendous. They will probably sign an okay class this year and a very good class next year. Should be winning 8-9 by year 2 imo.

Agree. Other than Alabama recruiting is kinda cyclical amongst the teams in the Atlanta footprint. Auburn's hot, then Georgia's hot, then Clemson etc.

UT is a very attractive place to play football and they are due to have a hot recruiting streak which should translate on the field within a couple of years. I'm not counting this recruiting year because JP's starting way behind the eight ball, but I bet he closes with momentum.

I was gonna go with "at least one or two more coaches" but I was feeling generous...

Pruitt doesn't seem to have a tactful, political side to his coaching. Head coaching duties are just not his thing. If Fulmer can help him out in this area, he might do ok. If not, there is going to be one hell of a mess in Tennessee when he explodes. Vol fans will not give him much leeway when the going gets tough.

Oddly enough they have more blue-chippers than the JR/SR ones (unless you're already counting up a year). Another oddity is that when Gaulden declared our blue-chip average on D went up despite the fact that he's the best player we had on defense (minus maybe a healthy Tuttle). But we all know paper stars don't always reflect reality.

So far it's been a 20 year rebuild. Not sure how much longer, but I'll say 10 more.

For now? Indefinite rebuild. Until proven otherwise. Nothing but shite coaches have come to UT. We'll see how Pruitt does. He'll probably do ok since he's a miserable frick like Saban but he'll never win the East.
