I'm pretty sure it is since I believe he said the exact same thing a page or two back.

He DID NOT say the football program would have to shut down because of lack of funds. He said the UNIVERSITY could possibly shut down. The athletic department is not only funded by private funds, it annually gives around 10 million dollars to the university.

And let me go slowly so maybe YOU can understand. If the University is shut down because of financials, then the football team cannot exist, and therefore would be shut down because of financials. I don't care if the football team is supported privately. If the school is shut down, so is the football team.

You seriously do not understand that?

Look, we ALL know it is not going to happen. But hypothetically, if the University was shut down, or if enough classes are discontinued, the football team goes away.

Yes, Vitter was caught wuth a prostitute and ALL OF A SUDDEN the Democrats are the bastion of morality.

The same party gave us JFK boinking Marylyn Monroe in the White House, to Bill Clinton screwing an intern (Lewinsky) yet somehow this isn't sexual harrassment, to Barney Frank having sex with dudes in his taxpayer funded Condo in Washington. Hmmm?

Now these Demo/Libs are promoting deviant lifestyles as acceptable via gay marriage & trannys.

Yes, David Vitter (Republican) was with a prostitute but when Edwin Edwards was ripping off the State and selling Gambling liscenses as they were his personal property while at the same time chasing LSU coeds it was OK because he was a Democrat. What a joke.

Yes, this I can agree with. Voters in Louisiana and in general (including Alabama) are uninformed and many are bought by tax and give away money from Liberals.

Believe it or not, Gump, this is the case in Alabamastan as well.

So, bottom line, you're a La. resident/voter and you've agreed that the majority of them are idiots, so wouldn't it make the chances better than 50-50 that you're an idiot, too?...just asking.

I'm sorry. Was I not responding to him asking whether the Governor threatened to shut down the football program?

Thank you, Titus! He apparently did not read what I have been writing or just wants to be contrary. I'm embarrassed to say I was born in Baton Rouge.

I repeat....S-L-O-W-L-Y

No University. No football team. If the Univeristy is shut down, then the football team is shut down.

Regardless....YOUR Governor most certainly said the football team would go away if the tax increase were not approved. Do I have to get the direct quote for you?

Does seem weird that the one entity that makes money for a cash strapped University is the one being threatened to be shut down.

it's not weird. If he threatens to shut down directional universities, no one listens. He threatens LSU football, people listen. He's still an idiot, though, to threaten higher education like this. I'm not even joking, I'd call his bluff because he knows good and well he could never actually do that.

Obviously you are. So here you go:

Yet that’s exactly where Louisiana’s governor went Thursday, with John Bel Edwards “threatening” the very existence of the sport in the state — including flagship program LSU — if a tax increase for which he’s pushing isn’t implemented.

Now. is this, or is this not saying that LSU football is in jeopardy?

In this thread they've also told us that Alabama voters are also stupid and will vote for Democrats who want to keep entitlements and raise taxes.

Somebody tell them where our last Democrat governor is these days.

Once again, there is zero chance of Universities shutting down. This financial situation has been on going in Louisiana for a couple of years because of political disagreements on the liberal protected crap in the budget.

Louisiana has called special sessions of the Legislature to deal with the budget shortfalls each time.

Louisiana has already called a special session of the Legislature again this year to deal with the shortfall. It began in Baton Rouge last night.

Of course, this won't matter to you because all you want to do is stir up shite. Facts don't matter to peoplelike you because it suits your agenda to tryto tear down LSU. Hey, if I was a UGA fan I would probably feel the same way considering that UGA has become the poster child for "WAIT UNTIL NEXT YEAR".

Dude, it's clear to anyone who read your first responses that you were incapable of differentiating the university shutting down from only the football program shutting down.

You can keep trying to pretend that you were trying to say "no university = no football" the whole time, but we all know you needed it explained to you.

You thing that everyone is getting all worked up about is the headlines say "LSU football to be shut down for financial reasons". (or something close to that) The headline isn't 100% correct and misleading.

LSU athletics is not having any financial problems the university is apparently. However we had the same topic come up last year. Cuts were threatened if LSU didn't get more funding. Well LSU didn't get anymore funding and no cuts were made. So which is it?
