This was just a stupid troll that's been way over-played in threads on this board. You should stop taking it seriously.

So you are surprised by that? Seems like you would do that same thing.

No stupid.
First, all this talk about funding for education is because of a long on-going fight in Louisiana over the Hand-off and politically protected social programs. Over the years the Democrats have protected damn near every social program (public housing, daycare for crack hos, Welfare, etc) from financial cuts which leaves health care and education to absorb a disproportionate percentage of any overall shortfall in the Budget.
Louisiana receives a lot of its' revenues from oil/natural gas production and the prices have dropped dramaticly over the last 2 years which has resulted in a large deficit. Now it is falling on education and health care to shoulder most of these shortfalls because BY LAW these dumbass liberals have protected their social programs from any cuts. DO YOU UNDERSTAND?
Regardling LSU athletics. The LSU Athletic Department is one of the most wealthy in the nation. It is supported 100% by private funds through self-generated funds via ticket sales, concessions, novelties, SEC Revenue, and last but not least PRIVATE DONATIONS. LSU has more than a few very wealthy benefactors who can raise millions upon millions of dollars for whatever LSU needs.
LSU Athletics annually donates 7-10 million dollars back to the University. This past season LSU Athletics donated 10.5 million of privately generated funds for athletics to the academic side of LSU. So now, NO LSU IS NOT IN THE HOLE.
All this crap stirred up by the NEWLY ELECTED DEMOCRAT GOVERNOR just demonstrates what he is willing to say in trying to accomplish his tax & spend goals via "shock value".
I hope this explains things a little but in reality the LSU haters & detractors will still attempt to use our dumbass Democrat Governor's incorrect comments against TOPS & LSU. However, LSU will continue recruiting as last weekend demonstrates and adding new coaches like Aranda and Craig. Then when it comes time to tee it up in the Fall you will see one hell of a motivated team out there wearing Purple & Gold. Until then, in the words of Les Miles, "Have a GREAT day!"

I'm not an LSU fan or LA resident, I don't care enough about something that isn't going to happen to learn the inner workings of how LSU is funded or LA politics.
If it was my state or school it would be different.
Edit. And other than joking about it, I have discussed it way more than I care to in this thread or any other.

The LSU athletic department is the only one in the SEC that gets 0 subsidies. 1 of 7 in the country!
And the governor threatens the future of the program? I think the outrage is warranted.

This should really be stickied since the people on this board are so misinformed and have no clue of what's going on. I get it. When you see the governor saying these things in the press it's hard to comprehend, but why not ask questions? Instead idiots on here comment about it and actually make themselves look dumber than the Governor himself. Good job on thoroughly breaking it down.

only somewhat intelligent part of your post:
pretty much nailed it. That and the guy he was running against was caught with a prostitute. That was pretty much JBE's whole campaign.

Yes, this I can agree with. Voters in Louisiana and in general (including Alabama) are uninformed and many are bought by tax and give away money from Liberals.
Believe it or not, Gump, this is the case in Alabamastan as well.

Very impressive, but you are looking at total revenue only and are not including total expenses. Subtract total expenses from LSU's total revenue and the number becomes MUCH less impressive.
Oregon would have had a 86 Million dollar profit while LSU sits at $11 Million. Just glancing over it I found 9 schools with better financials...then I quit looking, so there may have been more.
It's not how much money you bring in. It's how much money you end up with. If you bring in 1 billion dollars you would look very impressive. If you spend 2 billion dollars it's not so impressive and you would be broke.

Because no one outside of LA cares about all that shite. To everyone else in the conference it just looks like your Gov came out and said we are broke and probably won't be able to play football and finds it funny someone would do something that stupid. If schools start changing their schedules to fill in the week they had LSU scheduled, then I, personally, might give enough of a frick to read it.

Except that college sports isn't a business. So...
You would also have to look at what the Athletic Departments fund. All universities don't have the same number of athletic programs. I say spend all of the money a give the athletes the best shite possible.

Did he or did he not say LSU football might have to be shut down?
I'm going to take this slowly so you can keep up. Maybe.....
He DID NOT say the football program would have to shut down because of lack of funds. He said the UNIVERSITY could possibly shut down. The athletic department is not only funded by private funds, it annually gives around 10 million dollars to the university.
No university = no football program.
Is that simple enough for you?
