How is Bama ranked so much higher than the Vols?

I don't have a dog in this fight but I watched that game and it was no fluke the Vols won.
How the heck can Bama be 8 slots higher with the same record?
This type of stuff is very concerning.

ESPN is trying to Weekend at Bernie’s Alabama. They paid a pretty penny for Nick Saban’s Alabama and they aren’t getting anything close to it. So they’re using the CFP to attempt to keep that dead brand breathing

Tennessee was ranked ahead of Alabama.
Then South Carolina happened.
Then South Carolina happened.

Because of injuries and officiating.

Because like every year the committee will do everything possible to make sure Bama gets in the playoffs.

This is the answer, Carolina looks like a bad loss unless the reanimated corpse of Shane Beamer’s career keeps going forward. Every remaining game they have is winnable with the exception of Georgia.

Because Tennessee only has one win against a ranked opponent and are 1-2 against teams that are ranked. If head to head is all that mattered then Auburn would be ahead of UGA. Yes, Tennessee beat Alabama head to head, but they also have played other games that mean something as well.

Why do you think they are considering 24 playoff teams now?

Tennessee fans have no problem with Bama being ranked ahead. Its the 8 spot differential that makes no sense especially when they are both 6-2
UGA is 7-1 and Auburn is 4-4. That doesnt make sense as a comparison

Makes perfect sense. You guys are selecting one thing while ignoring the other metrics.
So if we're going to all play "idiot" with you the question is valid. So why is UGA ranked #2 when auburn came and beat them in their own house?

Well, Bama bias can be a thing but don't discount the possibility that committee members may have met random Tennessee fans at some point in their lives. Y'all know how disturbing that can be.

Beat the crap out of them head to head.
If TN is at 13, that’s a bad loss for AL.
And calling MSU a good win is stupid.
I can’t imagine an AL fan with a brain thinking they deserve 5.
Top 12 sure.

For the record, even as a Bama fan I don't agree with the #5 ranking, but I can understand how the committee got there.
The UGA loss, though counted as a loss in the record, wasn't counted as much of a loss in the eyes of the committee. The game was so close and then add to that the absolute robbery in officiating that obviously impacted the flow of the game. I don't think the committee dinged Alabama for that loss at all.
So it appears we're only being seen with one loss in the eyes of the committee. Rather than Tennessee fans being upset at how high Bama is ranked, maybe you should be upset at how low y'all are ranked. Your only two losses are to two ranked CFP teams, yet Texas lost to an unranked Oklahoma team that is horrible this season. yet the Horns are ranked 7th? Your beef maybe with the wrong team.

I don't think we should be #5, but I can see how the committee got there. Tennessee needs to be more upset at how low they are ranked rather than how high Bama is ranked. Both of their losses are to currently ranked CFP teams and there are teams ranked ahead of them with losses to unranked teams. Bama probably should be anywhere from 8-10, but Tennessee shouldn't be outside the top 12.
