They are a poverty program and their exposure to Texas is going to be greatly reduced not getting 2-3 games in Texas every year.
You are grasping.
The Red River Shootout is in Dallas every year. They will be playing A&M regularly again.
They get four non-conference games per year. Make the money right, and they can get series with Houston, TCU, and SMU and get plenty of exposure in Texas.

Numerous reasons. The most important? Good coaching and stability of coaching staff. The rest in no particular order:
- oil money
- one of only 2 large football programs in the state/no NFL team/meaning a lot of local support and butts in seats.
- proximity to DFW for recruiting
- large alumni base in DFW
- decent size town near OKC
- Barry Switzer, because he was a pioneer in attracting black players into the program. The best of athletes from all over the country. They liked him and respected him. This created a decades-long success in recruiting among the best players anywhere.
- there was a long time when OU's trench players were monsters and would plow down opponents, resulting in blowout victories. Like, 20 years or more.
- some of the SEC teams were not a factor during this timeframe (60's-70's-80's) which allowed OU to swoop in and snatch good players away, plus it created a clearer path to the NC game. There were years when LSU was a nobody, Bama was way down, Georgia up and down, and virtually nobody else in the SEC was a contender. Sometimes Auburn would be. Florida, maybe.
- the big hitters were USC, Penn State, Michigan, Texas, Oklahoma, Florida State, Ohio State, Miami, Nebraska. It was easier to build a dynasty because there were more scholarships allowed, and parity didn't exist.

Ou has as much oil $$$ as it needs.
It’s brains at the top.
Bud Wilkerson, Barry Switzer, Stoops.
This isn’t accidental…;)

2 things: Proximity to DFW, one of the largest metro areas in the country, and just happens to be in a state that is crazy about high school football. (Google Allen Eagles HS stadium)
Also, the school exists to support the football team. If there is some book where "football factory" is defined, OU would be the definition..a long with Bama and very small handful of others like LSU.
That's it really, and it helps that the entire state of Oklahoma doesn't have an NFL team (everyone is either Cowboys or Chiefs fans) and didn't even have NBA until fairly recently.

I hate the title of this thread.
Let me give you a similar question - Why is Math so racist?
You’re not allowed to answer either question without getting jeered.
Oklahoma cheated. That’s all.

My point was cost of living…
Norman is way more attractive to young people without a lot of spending money.
Not an issue anymore because top recruits do have spending money.

Tuscaloosa isn't a great city either. How do YOU do it?
Recruits aren't tourists and they don't think like tourists.
You clearly don't understand what appeals to a recruit.

I’m a Tiger fan but I’ve been to Norman 4 times for work. It’s a pretty cool place. Not gonna lie.

It’s not, I won’t disagree. I think Alabama over 90 years has created such a winning standard, kids want to go there. Started with Bear Bryant, and the lore of Joe Namath among others. Outside of a 10 year period of being on probation which we saw 4 coaches come and go, we’ve had a lot of consistency with our coaches and administration.

It’s simple really. They were the best team in a shite conference. Like being the smartest retard.
