In all honesty, he has exceeded expectation EVERY year he has been at AU....think about it...

'09 - 6 wins was expected, he won 8...
'10 - 9 wins was expected, he won 14...
'11 - 4 wins was expected, he's won 7 & counting...

That's exceeding...

How often has he met or exceeded expectations as a head coach? Once, but he knocked it out of the park that one season. Every other year as a head coach he has failed to meet expectations. His one championship year will get him until the 2013 season to return to competing for the SECW championship. If Auburn isn't challenging for the title then I think he'll be history.

His first year here was was expected to finish .500 at best and was picked at SEC Media Days to finish next to last in the West. He won 8 games including winning the Outback Bowl.
LINK

This year many experts in the preseason gave us a realistic chance at winning anything between 3 on the low end to no more than 5 or 6 on the high end. Once again Auburn was picked to finish 5th in the West. Instead Auburn is 7-5 and will play in the Chik-fil-A Bowl.
LINK

Considering that in 2010 Auburn won the SEC & BCS Championships, despite being picked to finish no better than 3rd in the West, I'd say that 2010 goes without saying. As for his other two seasons, in both instances he exceeded those expectations as well.

You could take the most talented team ever and without a good coach they might not win

Alabama won the SEC in 99 with Dubose and the most dysfunctional coaching staff ever assembled due to good senior leadership.

The next year.......

You obviously haven't been around these parts long enough to remember the expectations of the Auburn fans who post here. Their expectations were higher than those you listed, and by significant margins. We've been led to believe Auburn would be competing for the SECW crown every year. And your claim of 4 expected wins for 2011 is inconsistent with a 23 ranking in the AP preseason poll. LINK

Who specifically led you to believe that?

You should ask why were expectations so low this year. They had 2 great recruiting years in a row.

Chizik is suppose be a great defensive coach. But his defenses have been terrible. Even last year the secodary was the worst in the SEC. He must be bad at player development. A recruits worst nighmare is going to a school that has great players in front of him but they keep losing. I wonder who will want to be an assistant for him with his record with Gus Malzahn and Ted Roof. Bombed with both of them.

Hi, I'm ThirdLawson. We haven't met, so I'll be brief in saying this.

I don't give a flying f*** about unrealistic s***. And if you think that Chizik has underperformed, I respect your opinion...

It's a stupid one, but I respect it.

Because all REAL football fans, obviously most of you aren't included in this, but all real football fans know that Tubby redshirted NO ONE in 2007 and recruited NO ONE in 2008...which is why there are no Seniors, no redshirt Jrs....whole team is Sophs and Fr...

Look at this class and tell me how many of these names you've ever heard...

29 signees, half never made it to Auburn, 8 contributed, 5 still on the team....

Second worst coach (after Larry Coker) to win a MNC in the last 25 years IMO.
