Ok. Name a guy that is available, right now.One that would make us a better team. Just sayin, nobody available right NOW. Plenty of better coaches but None would just up and quit to come to bama should CAG be fired. That's all I'm saying.

you don't think a hot mid major coach would come for 2 mil per year? I am sure there are some but I don't follow mid majors enough to know

A hot mid major coach like Anthony Grant who last year got us back to the NCAAt after the dumpster fire he inherited from Gottfried?

Which hot mid-major coach? Grant was once a hot mid-major coach. Do we just keep cycling coaches every 3 years until we find one that makes the dance every season? Grant may not be a guy that takes Bama to an SEC championship and sweet 16s but no one can know that for sure yet.

In my opinion, Grant's only shortcoming has been recruiting big men.

If he'd had been able to get one legit inside presence, Alabama would be a NCAA shoe-in and probable top 25 team this year and we wouldn't be having this conversation.

Some posters have already commented that there hasn't been in state talent and at a place like Bama this is a probably been a much bigger reason the team seems a bit stuck as a borderline NCAA/NIT squad than Grant's coaching.

Gueye hasn't really developed enough to be the inside presence on a TOP 25 caliber team but I still believe was a decent recruiting risk. Engstrom likewise (and his injury this year has been more of a blow than many think insofar as it's severely limited Grant's choices against bigger teams -- it's no coincidence that the horrible December run happened right after he went down).

Jacobs is limited. He's a nice piece to come off the bench and give you some offense in the post but is a liability defensively without a rim protector beside him.

I think it's tough to criticize Grant's coaching given the roster holes even though he's ultimately responsible for those.

The answer is not that Alabama needs a different coach but that Grant needs to keep getting the good in-state guys like Lacey, Cooper and Randolf but go out and seal the deal to bring in a solid big man. It's really that simple to me.

Losing the swede was huge. He was coming along nicely as a defender, rebounder, and setting high screens. He is also much stronger than both Gueye and Jacobs. I think they're an easy tourney team, sitting about where Ole Miss is right now if he doesn't get hurt.

Grant made a big error not getting a juco big man, but he is still a big step up from where they were under Gottfried. It isn't time to give up on him yet.

I think Grant's a good coach and should get some time. Alabama isn't really the kind of basketball school that should be firing its coach every three years. It's not like we haven't sucked before.

And does anyone still disagree that we have no one on the team who can shoot?

This team is full of shooters...just the offensive philosophy is not working

I was already off that bandwagon. frick this. His offensive philosophy involves only shooting when the shot clock goes below 5 seconds unless, of course, we have already passed it to the other team. Doing this lowers the amount of opposing team's possessions, thus inflating our defensive statistics, which in turn makes people think he's actually a good coach.

What a joke.

This team of filled with highly-rated and somewhat skilled backcourt players but none are pure shooters.

Agree that the offensive philosophy/coaching/scheme is...what's worse than horrible?
