How come SEC teams don't play Notre Dame more often?

I've been looking at Notre Dame's all-time record against conferences and noticed Notre Dame has played fewer games against the SEC than any other conference and it's not even close. LINK
Hell, even the Mountain West has played more games against Notre Dame. Why is that? Is it Notre Dame or the SEC? I mean who wouldn't want to see an Alabama-Notre Dame matchup in the future? It would be great seeing the two greatest programs in CFB history square off again. What's preventing it from happening?

Notre Dame fricking sucks. We have our own T.V. contracts now, don't need their T.V. $

They enjoy playing the academys much more.

Notre Dame doesn't want to play the good SEC programs and they wont agree to a home and home with a crappy SEC school. Thread finished.

NOTRE DAME VS. THE SOUTHEASTERN CONFERENCE
• Notre Dame has won 60 percent of its games (19-13-0) vs. teams that currently make up the Southeastern Conference, with 17 of those games coming vs. LSU (10) and Tennessee (7).
• Tennessee was the only meeting Notre Dame had against an SEC opponent in 04 and the first contest against an SEC school since the Irish lost to the Volunteers by a 28-13 score on Nov. 3, 2001.
• Notre Dame owns a .500 or better record against five of the eight SEC teams it has faced.
• The Irish are 7-7 all-time on the road against current SEC teams.
• Tennessee (5-2) and Georgia (1-0) are the only SEC schools to have winning records against Notre Dame.
• Notre Dame has played the following SEC schools: Alabama (5-1), Florida (1-0), Georgia (0-1), LSU (5-5), Mississippi (1-1), South Carolina (3-1), Tennessee (2-5) and Vanderbilt (2-0).

This is gonna nead a link. Not saying Bama wouldn't destroy them, but why would Bama be "begging" them and them not play?

This. It was apparent to them when LSU killed them in the Sugar Bowl that they didn't want anything to do with top SEC teams.

During their National Championship year back in 76? 77?...One of those two.
Played them in Jackson.

Tennessee actually has played them quite often over the last 20 years. I think we've had 3 home and homes with them.

Auburn has never played Notre Dame. Don't you think it would be cool to play them at least once?

We had a long standing tradition of a home and home with ND every decade that they backed out of in the 2000's. They have seriously downgraded their schedule in recent years.

Good. Again, not saying the game would even be close, but I just can't see why Bama would be "begging" them to play. Don't go getting all defensive Bama fans

I would love to see that.

Probably because its a storied rival, and we want to have a better record against them than 1-5. Pretty logical.

Most college Seniors weren't even alive when Notre Dame last played Alabama. It's just a shame.

It may have been a good game back in the day, but it would be aweful today. I understand the reason ND wouldn't want to play an SEC team, much less Bama, they would get curbstomped. Seems like an easy answer to the OP to me

Because Notre Dame doesn't want to be fricking humiliated. Any more stupid questions?
