Dooley was never even remotely close to being fired after the UK loss. If it was a 50% chance, then why in the hell would Hart spend all that money and time hiring new assistants to multi year contracts for the 7 new coaches? If it was that bad, it would have been much easier to just hire a new coach.

If his job wasn't in serious danger, why the hell was everyone else jumping ship?

Actually insiders have repeatedly said he was getting three years no matter what, and that a lot of important people believe in Dooley. Nothing has changed that.

I don't give a damn what Hubbs or LWSVOL says. The people in power do not have a lot of confidence in Dooley.

The real risk in keeping Dooley is if he has a decent year this year and it is 3 more years before you can get rid of him and right the ship.

Justin Wilcox was never going to stay here long. He always wanted to be on the west coast which is why he was given a no buyout clause. Wilcox wants to be head coach in the Pac 12, and developing relationships with high school coaches on the west coast will help him tremedously.

Peter Sirmon was Wilcox's best friend and it shouldn't be surprised that he left with him. When Wilcox becomes head coach, Sirmon will become the d coordinator. Both coaches loved Dooley.

Bagget was pretty much fired which is why UT paid him to retire. Hush money. They didnt want another Chuck Smith.

Hiedstand was told to look around. When he was job searching, there was 0 effort by Dooley to keep him.

Russel left because Hart wouldn't give him a multi year contract so he went to coach for his previous boss.

Thompson left because UT hired Sunseri and never gave Thompson a shot at DC.

Joseph worked and admired Pelini and actually had better relationships with a couple of coaches on Nebraska staff then the new one that Dooley brought in. Joseph was the only guy on the defense Sal has never worked for, and it has been hinted that Sal wanted to bring in his own guy.

Yeah, half the staff left as a result of a complete coincidence. They all believe in Dooley.

Wilcox demanded a no buyout clause in his contract. That info I gave you came from an actual insider. The same insider who broke the Lane Kiffin to USC and a lot more stories.

Its pretty obvious what happened with Bagget. Why in the world would you pay someone a buyout if they retire?

Pittman was hired a day after Hiedstand took the Notre Dame job. If you have been a UT fan long, you know how long coaching searches take. Coincidence?

Again, it was no secret Thompson was very upset Sunseri was hired over him considering they had the same amount of experience as DC.

The only one you could say that for is Joseph or Russel.

You're certainly right about Bagget. I wasn't trying to use him as an example. As far as the other guys, sure you can find individual reasons, but this was a freaking exodus.

I knew Wilcox wasn't here for the long run as soon as I heard the no buyout clause. He would have went to Texas if UT didn't give him that. It was pretty obvious Wilcox was waiting for something else. Sirmon was pretty much a package deal with Wilcox.

Does it not seem odd that Dooley hires a oline coach almost immediately after Hiedstand leaves for Notre Dame? How long did it take for UT to hire Jay Graham when Bagget was let go? It is a long process.

Almost all the guys on 8thmaxim are the Dooley haters on volnation who can't get over Lane Kiffin. I have proven them wrong time and time again. I recognized all the popular posters on the website.

"I think at Tennessee, it was going to come down to how many games you won the next year, and unfortunately nobody's got a crystal ball," said Russell, making his first public comments since his departure. "I tried to take the sentimental stuff out of it. A chance to be an assistant head coach and concentrate purely on special teams was a little bit of a unique situation."-former TE/Special Teams Coach Eric Russel

There is absolutely no spinning the coaching situation this off season.

The 8thMaxim is quite possibly the biggest circle jerk on the internet. Every other thread is about the dumbasses on Volnation.

I said Russel is one of the ones you could make that case for. He was also upset with the multi year contract since Hart wouldn't give him one.

just went to 8thmaxim for the first time.
I've never seen so much obsession over a 7-6 coach.

Lol, I easily did. Your boys over there don't like to research the facts. They think a team can win a national championship in one year. I have shut down alot of them on volnation.

If you think Derek Dooley is capable of winning a national championship, then I can't help you.
