This where the portal can really come in handy. If your new hire is already at another P4 school he can bring convince some of his current recruiting class to come over as well as players on his roster to transfer.

Not the high school players for 2026. It would be too late to flip them(most of them) after December 3rd

I think all of the teams with stable situations should just go ahead and take who they want from LSU, Florida and Auburn.

That’s what we’re doing. Already dropped a player to make room.

Florida
4* EDGE KJ Ford - probably A&M

Auburn
5* S Bralan Womack - probably A&M or tOSU
4* WR Jase Matthews - probably Ole Miss

LSU
5* DL Lamar Brown - probably A&M
4* OT Brysten Martinez - probably Texas

We’ll get a few of these guys for sure. If they have any decent O-linemen hop in the portal we’ll take those too

I think LSU will be fine…

LOL. Right.

recruiting coordinator and interimHC Frank Wilson and GM Austin Thomas will certainly remain on staff in their roles under the new HC, whoever that new HC is.

LSU doesn’t even have an AD to request a new coach retain those coaches and it’s always more likely than not that a new coach, especially a coach that has options, will want to choose all of his own staff. Some new AD requiring the new coach to keep some of the previous staff will more likely result in that coach turning down the job than taking the job with some yahoo butting in from the get go.

So basically, we all hope you are right, and honestly, nobody will be surprised at the dumpster fire in Baton Rouge right now.

Congratulations!!

This isn’t just a problem for a team trying to hire Kiffin. It’s every single head coach in a conference championship game

I think Kiffin, for some reason, is the domino that will get things moving. Kiffin is smart enough to know know that the longer he waits, the later it will be- for the other programs that didn't get him- in terms of recruiting.

So his best move will be to wait as long as possible especially if he is staying at Ol' Miss because he can still lock in his recruits.

The early signing period for high school recruits is December 3rd to 5th. Most top talent will commit then.

With NIL, they need to get rid of the early signing period. It is just unfair to schools who are going through a coaching change. It needs to be pushed back to February.

For teams waiting until after the season to hire a coach,

So, coaches are supposed to quit mid-season to take new jobs?

If you are betting on High school recruits, you are burning millions on a gamble. 1st gamble they will be worth the money you spent to get them, 2nd you can keep them on your roster. 3rd you are taking up a roster spot on a kid that may not be ready to play for 2 or 3 years, and this also goes back to the 2nd point, they want to play, why stay and sit the bench?

Not as bad as you're wishing for. NIL has changed the game.
