You don't think accusing him of having an affair caused a rift between him and his wife? I mean, at least a certain amount of distrust had to pop up...and that, in turn would cause a rift with his kids, too.
quote:What red flags? Baseless accusations? Weren't accusations proven wrong by the AD?
AU admin received a complaint and there were many red flags that could not be ignored.

he real investigation was on the treatment of players and coaches.
So they did an internal investigation and found what exactly?
a couple disgruntled tweets?
Was he physically abusing people?

I’m not sold it was boosters. I think it probably came from a disgruntled employee (maybe Mason). The Auburn Athletic Department handled it bad.
This! Boosters didn't try to sabotage him actively. Now, they probably didn't help much but it wasn't active interference:
al.com
"Harsin flew on noted donor Raymond Harbert’s private plane to an Auburn basketball game against Tennessee in Knoxville. During the speaking engagements for Auburn alums and supporters, he formed a relationship with basketball coach Bruce Pearl and baseball coach Butch Thompson. Harsin and Greene sat behind the Auburn bench next to Harbert at the Tennessee game.
Some saw this and Harsin doing things like attending Jimmy Rane’s golf tournament, Bo Jackson’s golf event and Bo Bikes Bama, and other events as signs that Harsin was learning Auburn’s ways."

That was message board, the investigation came about based on player and coaches complained. We had to investigate.
Once that happened, rumors came out about an affair.
Harsin would have been fired, but Mason would not go fully on the records.

This is part of the problem, though.
We have been told by Auburn fans on this board that it was:
1. Auburn Boosters
2. Auburn AD
3. Past coaches, players
I can't imagine past players/coaches bringing up the Clesi thing. They would bring up working conditions etc.
All that said, part of the problem would be not knowing who you have to watch out for and who can or cannot be trusted.
Whoever did the investigation did Auburn no favors by not naming where the accusations came from. That alone leads me to believe that the boosters had at least a part in it. The AD would not name them because they didn't want to lose donation dollars.

What are the sources you are reading from? Internet BS? Are they biased? What concrete information do you have to support your inside knowledge?
It has been addressed here today already. The blue bloods of this conference don't play around when things go south.
There is plenty of documented evidence of the same things going on at all of the schools. Nature of the beast.
It was not Freeze who caused all those infractions Johnny Reb. It was your boosters!

Maybe, maybe not. She left Auburn, though. I can't imagine that happening based upon message board scuttlebutt, that never came to light until after an investigation came about.
quote:I get all that, but where did you get this information from? Is there a link to a story or some corroborating source, or is this more message board scuttlebutt? More than once I have seen people try to reason stuff out on this message board and all of a sudden that becomes repeated by everybody as a fact. Later the truth comes out and it isn't anywhere close to what was repeated as the facts. (Arik Gilbert is one example. and we could both probably come up with others)
Once that happened, rumors came out about an affair.

I agree with you there. You will hear Auburn Fans say this.

No. That was all Twitter/message boards. It really the fault of the AD for not being transparent and letting rumors fly for days without squashing them.
ETA: We have since replaced the president and AD.

Don't misunderstand. This happens with all fan bases. We tend to all take a rumor and repeat it as fact. I did not mean to insinuate it was unique to Auburn.

BTW, it wasn't me down voting posts. I don't do that, and definitely would not do that when having a civil conversation.

Harsin could have won despite the boosters bullshite. Hell, Tuberville went undefeated a year after Jetgate when Housel and Lowder secretly flew in the middle of the night to Kentucky to meet with Petrino 2 DAYS before the Iron Bowl. Tuberville eventually flamed out, but he stuck it in their face for a few years.

Ole Miss fans realize it’s been since the 60’s since they won the sec and know they can’t win it at all.
Kiffin would win it at AU. Facts are facts. AU has a bigger budget, brand new football facility opening, and OM is second tier.
Bitches are scared

Well, no doubt all blame can't be laid at the feet of any one entity. Harsin recruited poorly and caused a lot of his own problems, for sure. It's so hard to tell what the biggest problem was. Was his tenuous employment status causing recruiting problems or was he just not recruiting well all on his own...or a combination both? Typically in situations like this people find it to be a combination of a lot of factors.

Auburn has more money than most schools in the SEC with their tech grads. For the first time they are united in pushing the program forward. Look out.
