So only three of those access towers with SRO on top in the corners will be built this year, correct?
The fourth one gets built after the demo and new stand get put up next offseason IIRC...

Yes only 3 will be built for 14.
The 2 north towers (left in the pic) will have screens on them. With only one of the two towers built for 14, I wonder if they'll put one in this year.

Stole this from TexAgs, thought you might be interested:
quote:
Project Director visited class and spoke about the project and answered questions. Some of the take a ways.
- Close to 700 laborers a day working on the project. At night no less than 40 people working.
- Doing about 20 million of work a month at this point
- Expect south lower bowl to be built out by next 2 weeks with the 2nd deck being built out by end of the month
- The SE corner will not have escalators. It will only be a ramp going up.
- Kyle Field Cam has an hour delay
- When looking at the east construction cam, the cluster column at the bottom right on the ground is the first part of the canopy. It will go up around the 21st.
- At the NE 1st deck area where they started the new firstdeck (The area where there is a large separation in the northeast bleachers and student section bleachers) This area will have a wall built. Stadiums now build walls to separate classes. Student pays $275 in this section and 1 section over donor pays $10,000.. etc.
- Tall crawler cranes have a wind gage inside. If wind speed on top of crane is over 35 mph they have to stop operations with crane. Happened past 2 days. However still able to do work. Use smaller cranes and place bolts in steel that has already been placed. When they see high wind forecast they work quick in the morning before wind speeds get high in late morning/ early afternoon.
- There is an empty space between student section 2nd & 3rd deck where the old Reed Building Basketball courts were. This area will have air handlers and other equipment.
- Playing surface will be lowered 1 more foot before sod is laid in early August. They kept 1 foot higher for a working surface.
- The new sod was the 2nd contract signed behind the steel contract. Sod contract cost around $700K-800K
- West side will be imploded minus the 1st deck. They will crunch up the 1st deck west side similar to the east side. They will be given the field at midnight after the last game and it will take 4-5 weeks to set the charges.
- They noted everyone on Texags for concern the cranes would not make it out! haha. They said they will take them apart in pieces on the playing field area. Expect this to happen mid-late June.
- Would have lost 8,000 student seats if they redid entire student side due to ADA standards.
- Student side will be 17' off center of new playing field. New West side will be centered. They noted that it will not seem off center to the students due to the bowl in the south making the view seem normal.
- The playing field will have the same slope to it that the players currently practice on.
- Hoping sod has 4 weeks to grow before 1st home game. Joked they would lay the sod the night before the first game.

That seems like such a high number. Makes me wonder how Tiger Stadium would be affected if it needed to meet ADA standards.

FYI, regarding this pic...
...the Huey P. Long Fieldhouse is in the lower left.

Actually in the process of renovation plans. Worked on the proposal for it. The pool will be filled in for those concerned (budget doesn't allow to restore it). The space would be used for the education department.

Do you know what buildings are on the official demo list? Is it available online?
Also, IIRC Golfer said a few months ago that those aren't the most recent renderings of the new Patrick Taylor Hall. That company didn't get the bid.
Supposedly the new engineering complex will look more like the College of Coast & Environment

No, sorry I don't. Wish I could help...

I know what he said. But these are the plans shown when Governor Jindal announced the building's funding completion. So I believe LSU is going with these plans.
Trust me, I'd like nothing better than a more traditional approach.

Also, any updates on the way finding signage project? They were slowly adding new signs around campus and slowly stopped.
Crooked stop signs with a block of cement gets old looking at
I was wondering that, too. They prolly bit off a bit much to chew what with all the construction projects going on simultaneously. There were 63 ongoing projects as of January. Some of those have finished, like the new Ag Lab building, but there's still a lot in work.

I cant get over how massive this thing is going to be. Given the incredible amount of space taken up by just the concourses and towers, I cant imagine there will be a college stadium in America that takes up more total square feet.
Posted on 4/12/14 at 1:46 pm to Roger Klarvin
The Big House, maybe? I have no idea, it just seems massive since it's not very steep.

Are we talking square footage covered by the footprint of the building? The Big House is a bowl with some suites on top and mostly below ground as well, so there's only one concourse aside from the suites. Google it, 80% of the seats are walk-downs from entrance ports near the top. Kyle will have 3 decks and 3 wrap-around concourses on all sides. That makes for a bigger footprint.
Posted on 4/12/14 at 3:02 pm to Cooter Davenport
True. I guess I was just thinking about the entire footprint. Like I said, I'm just guessing as I've never been, it just looks huge from above.
Posted on 4/12/14 at 3:25 pm to Jefferson Davis
It was huge BEFORE they added the club & suite structures to both sides in 2010. Those guys were *already* #1 and then added to it. Bravo.
