Why does it upset you that he turned you down.

Vitello said he didn’t speak with LSU and your own 247 site stated he wasn’t a finalist for the job. Any information that you have to look at says he wasn’t offered but you want to wish cast it into existence because it makes you feel good. It’s weird and sad

Vitello had only been a coach for 3 years when the lsu job opened. LSU wasn’t going to offer anyone with so little experience at that juncture

We turned Brian Kelly in 2008, and he showed up to the interview wearing an orange tie. FACT!

How'd that work out for you?

if schloss does leave it's because he's afraid Alberts is slashing money for coaching salaries and facilities

why wouldn't he want to work with an AD he is very comfortable with in this new age of athletics that continues to very unpredictable

it would have been much easier if he would have won last night and rode out on a high note but I don't blame him one bit for going where he feels the most comfortable

Aggies will still be a plum job and I'm sure they will swing for the fences as well unless they decide to promote from within, Weiner definitely earned some kudos for the job he did with that staff and Cain is going to be a head coach one day, maybe too soon for him

to say Vitello was a finalist is strong because I'm sure LSU AD did his due diligence and spoke with several candidates that probably never went any further then that

Bianco was contacted but not a realistic candidate
Casey was contacted but not a realistic candidate

O'Sullivan was probably close to being a more serious candidate then anyone else

I'm sure some sort of feeler was put out to Vitello's agent and whether it went any further then that, only LSU AD and Vitello would know and it doesn't do Vitello any favors to reveal that as it would hurt his Tenn recruiting if it got out he was looking around

Would've been a great hire but I also understand why they wanted someone with more experience.

Jay Johnson already had a natty appearance when he was hired, very hard to make a case that Vitello was a better candidate at that point.

And then they will blame Schloss and Texas being a distraction that caused them to lose the CWS finals.

Not blaming you because Tennessee was the better team. However, to announce that your coach was fired and leak out an offer the day A&M is playing for the championship is a pretty low thing to do. Especially, when it could have sabotaged your new coach’s chance at a title. This is why you have the reputation that you do.

Mile Hamilton's stupid arse (RIP) also turned down Gary Patterson. THAT SUCKS!

Kelly, we don't care. What has he won since 2008?

Once he turned down LSU people quit trying.

Never offered lsu job….he couldn’t take the pressure-

I don’t realize he had been at Utk since 2017….took him 4 yrs to make a super

Jay has a much better pedigree

Not against UT.

Not in a major bowl game.

No championships.

His first season was 2018 and one of those seasons was Covid.

So he got them to supers in his third full season.

Johnson hasn’t made the supers in 7 of out 10 seasons he’s been a head coach.

Johnson has been to three World Series in 10 seasons as a head coaches. Vitello has been to three World Series in just 6 seasons as a head coach.

Tenn talent combined with the PED's Vitello is pushing is more likely for the sustained success

You don't hit 180 + homers and not be on something and yes that 1997 LSU team had some PED players with jacked up bats

Either way both schools have deep pockets deeper than Tenner so if he goes to Texas, then aTm going to be open sooooo either way its chaos

I think Vitello is a very good coach but Jay had a dramatically better resume when LSU came open.

How do you know it wasn’t Pierce himself who leaked it to frickface Kirk Bowls? He has much, much more motivation to make a) Schloss upset , and b) UT look stupid than CDC does, don’t you think?

Surely he's just leveraging this for more money. Seems like a terrible decision to take a step down to Texas.

Will this be the thing that sends A&M to the Big Ten in a package deal with the Kansas Jayhawks?

I have a feeling that A&M is going to go after Dave Van Horn

Doubtful considering his age and these lackluster results in the last two years in the regionals being both national seeds.
