Hottest Take of the Year!!! SEC Football Championship Related

1st place in the SEC sits out the conference championship game, takes playoff auto-bid and bye. 2nd and 3rd place SEC teams play in Atlanta, winner goes to the first round of the playoffs. SEC gets 2 teams in every year. Possible 3rd depending on the record (if 3rd place won and got to 10 wins, and 2nd place already had 10 wins maybe).
I know this will trolled bc A&M hasn’t been to Atlanta, but do we need to start thinking this way and tweaking things we can control that will get the most SEC teams into the playoffs?_mysmiley.net.png)

This doesn’t make sense.
The first place team gets screwed out of a conference championship to preserve their seeding for the playoffs? Having 2nd and 3rd place competing in a conference championship seems pretty weird.
Feels too broken from the get go.

Just take the playoff to 16 teams and have the SEC and B10 demand 4 auto bids each with the possibility to get more in the other 8 remaining spots.

I like it and I will backdate it one year.

On a serious note, I have explored a similar idea
SEC Championship
1 vs 2 - winner gets playoff bye
3rd Place
3 vs 5/6 (would prefer no rematches)
4th Place
4 vs 6/5 (would prefer no rematches)
This give us 4 spots pretty much every year.
1st - Winner with bye
2nd - Loser of SEC CG
3rd - Winner of 3rd place Game
4th - Winner of 4th place Game
3 games all day long - killer ratings, and games that actually mean something

Not sure why we need a championship game anymore since we did away with divisions. Just do the regular season results. Season goes too long already into the NFL playoffs. It’s better when it ends in early January.

Doesn't work that way, only a loser on the scale of Aggie would consider such.

We should honestly go back to divisions. 4 divisions that is. 1st and 4th play, 2nd and 3rd play to go to Atlanta. Wait. The division champs should play, not by record.

SEC is already gettin 3teams in every year anyway. Youre trying to solve a problem that doesnt exist.

I really do think there is a scenario where 1st place losses the SEC championship and gets left out.

None of it matters if the refs wont call holding on Alabama.

Why don’t we just make a 9-game schedule and eliminate the CCG except in the event of a tie?
