The 3-3-3 has been the most popular defensive scheme in the Big12 since 2016. Kwiatkowski employs his own version of it thats more like a 2-4-5. It neutralizes the inside zone & prevents big offensive lines from anchoring consistently. It’s also great for disguising coverage & blitzes. It’s why Bryce, a veteran high IQ QB, almost never seen the free rusher pre snap the entire game last year. It’s also why Bama’s single big run came from an outside zone where Jace damn near took that bitch to the sideline before he found a cutback lane.

Also, do you really think you have similar depth to Bama?
Not sure on the details of Bama's depth, but this is the best Texas team in 15 years;

Texas signed 12 OL the past 2 years; they got the large humans they wanted.

Sark has 5* playmakers all over the field to run his offense (2 QB, RB, 2 WR, TE, 2 OL).

Texas sent 3 defenders to the NFL last year; probably more will go from this team.

The biggest questions are QB pressure from the down lineman and LB pass coverage from #2 LB.

It’s a nightmare for a young inexperienced QB. Saban will start Milroe & pray they can run the ball effectively.

So the shorthorns are running the same defensive scheme against ALABAMA they did last year?

You'd have to be brain-dead to believe that.

It’s almost like our base package, it’s not a huge reach to think we go with a similar approach. It’s the same look we gave 12 personnel teams we faced last year. We’re also light at ILB right now, so I think we get more DBs on the field. Our DBs are big as hell though.

Worth noting that in the last 15 seasons Alabama has lost 5 home games. Of those 5 losses, 4 of those teams either played in the national championship game, had a Heisman winner, or both. The only other loss was a 6-point affair to a top 10 Ole Miss team that required plays like this:

Alabama fans don't seem to realize historical statistics have no bearing on future outcomes.

The near future is all about Bryant Denny Stadium. Believe me, BAMA fans get the future just fine.

We have 3 offensive linemen who will be first round picks in the next 3 NFL drafts (Latham, Booker, Proctor). Our center is a 3rd year starter and the only remaining spot is up for grabs between a 5th year senior with almost 20 starts under his belt and a talented redshirt freshman.

We have what most everyone around college football considers one of the 3-4 best running back rooms in the country - including 2 guys who are now entirely healed from 2021 knee injuries, an emerging sophomore and 2 of the 3 best running backs in last year's national recruiting class.

We have the best OLB group in the country, including a top 10 pick in next years draft and a guy who will likely play his way into being a Top 2-3 round pick. We have a DT who will likely be a 1st/2nd round pick in 2 years when he is eligible.

We have one of the 2-3 best CBs in the country along with the best incoming freshman safety in college football over the last 2-3 years who has been compared consistently to Minkah Fitzpatrick plus about 100 games of experience between our other safety, 2nd corner and nickleback.

Texas will be good. It'll be a good test and a game we can lose. We have some question marks - specifically in the passing game. However, you guys seem to be tricking yourselves into thinking you are playing Oklahoma State or something - both in terms of opposing talent and stadium environment. Your players have never played in an environment even remotely close to what they'll play in on 9/9, in terms of noise or size. You have played 1 game in an environment even close to this in the past 3 seasons and you pissed down your leg in Fayetteville.

Most of us respect Sark and the roster he's built. We know it's gonna be a game we'll have to play really well in to win. But we're still Alabama and we still have elite players everywhere. Coming into our stadium and winning is a massive accomplishment. Coming into our stadium and blowing us out is something that only a handful of teams have done in the past 50 years - and most of those were against Alabama teams that were under .500.

You might have a point if the current head coach wasn’t responsible for the success of Alabama at home over a 15 year period. Thinking you’re going to waltz in and win when you haven’t shown the ability to win on the road with any consistency is bold.

What's it with you cow shite-kickers and your total exuberance leading up to the Alabama game? Y'all act as if you've never played a big-boy team before. You remind me of my little puppy that jumps and runs all around the house while wetting himself at the sound of me opening the door when I come home!
GET CONTROL OF YOURSELVES!!
We know that you're ecstatic over being allowed in the conference, BUT calm down and at least act as if you belong here.

Alabama always has the horses, but don't think Texas hasn't been recruiting their tails off the last couple of years. We're right where LSU is and they beat you last year when you had a heisman quarterback.

You also had 2 of the top 3 picks in the draft and couldn't win your own division. Turned Eli Ricks from a 1st rounder into an UDFA.

All this coming from tPreseason GOAT team

No wonder the defenses in the Big12 haven't been so hot recently. The most popular defense only has 9 players on the field.
