Cutcliffe and Tubberville were both mediocre here. Tubbs may have done more had he stayed longer but he didn't so no use speculating. Cutcliffe was consistently mediocre and loved his assistants too much. He hasn't exactly caught the world on fire at his second job you know.

Nobody will ever set anything on fire at Duke except in basketball or reading books...

That's not even comparable

Cutcliffe = 59-62 overall, 14 top 25 finishes
OBC = 197-75-2 overall, 14 top 25 finishes

Ole Miss probably gets hated on more than any other program of similar caliber.
Not really... the past few years MSU has gotten a lot more hate than OM.. especially on here. I guess it's because we have had some success so people find the need to flame us.
I'm sure it was the same with ya'll during Nutts first two years.
If this type of thread was about MSU then it would be full of constant retarded flaming... I"m shocked it's going so well actually.

Dont know about that Tuberville was a good coach. And Cutcliffe was too. You guys lost Tubbs to more money and a bigger program at Auburn (shite happens), but Cutcliffe was a good fit. Yall ran him off too soon.
I agree with this. We jumped the gun on Cutcliffe and that somewhat hurt us....bit us in the arse with bad PR. Cutcliffe had his problems with recruiting, but the guy was a good coach that won a lot of games at Ole Miss. He kept them consistent with only one losing season. Not bad at all.
We should have gave him longer. Would he have stayed? I don't know. That was during the time he was having some health problems and relationships with the Administration were very bad. He didn't deserve to go out like he did though.

Honestly, integration from the 70s-90s. Kinda hard to recruit black players when we were waving those god damn flags all over the place. We've got a new AD, so hopefully he turns things around, because Boone was cancer for this program.

Not the on-campus Klan rallies?
I doubt that really did anything. Plus they were from Auburn anyway.

Ross Bjork came to the student section of a baseball game just to hang out with some student that tweeted at him. I dont even think pete boone knew what twitter was.
I did not know that. Pete Boone wouldn't be caught dead doing something like that. Huge respect points for Bjork.

Every Pike and KA I know said it and told everyone they knew to say it so...
Yep, I do largely blame the Pike fraternity for this shite. Worked with some and one of them being the stereotypical meathead Pike (out of state mind you) was one of the meatheads that would scream it repeatably.

You people are playing the race card too much. When is the last time a highly rated recruit has come out and said that OM was racist and he would not even consider it? I'm willing to bet not many
Racism is certainly a factor on why we aren't as good as we were in the 50s. Yeah, we're not racist now, but the problem is getting alot of these kids to our campuses instead of having them take Dan Mullen's word for it that we are incredibly racist assholes.

How apathetic is ole miss out-of-state students once they leave? My bro-in-law's best friend went to ole miss but he basically told me he doesn't keep up with them too much.
Really, I stop giving a shite after a while. I have almost no one to discuss football with over here, and absolutely no one to discuss college baseball with (only other Southerner I'm friends with over here is a Bama fan, and they don't give a shite about that). I would be pretty pissed right now about the LSU series if I was back home, but here its only a slight buzz kill. Its really hard to get excited when its hard to keep a feed over here on whats going on. Plus all the baseball games are in the early morning hours. TD is pretty much my only outlet for Ole Miss sports, at least one that I can bullshite with.
