Is Springer back this game?

I'm trying not to feel before kickoff tomorrow. This game is always screwy.

Will probably be a crazy back and forth game.

Just hard to tell how good OM is. Bama was the first good team they’ve played.

We are built to defend teams like OM but our scheduling seems to be catching up to us.

Ealy is in concussion protocol. We have a few good backups though.

I think Snoop Conner might be better than Ealy anyway

I just don't think OM can stop our ground attack. I think we will take the air out of the ball by running and running and running some more. I also don't think OM can run on our 3man DLine. I think we play keep away on O and 8 deep on D and wait for Corral to get impatient and pick him off. Think the Hogs win handily.

I do not think you dominate the run game on either side of the ball. I think that ends up being a wash. Our defense is better than you seem to think and we can run the football as well as anyone. To me the red zone defenses and field goal kickers will decide this game. Both teams will get their chances down there.

You’re not necessarily wrong with this statement in normal times but with Covid and no one being able to see an SEC game in Oxford for so long I think we will have a good enthusiastic crowd. I’ve seen good attendance for a big game even early and y’all are considered a big game. UGA a few years back, TN last time they were here, and Bama when Eli destroyed them come to mind as early games that were attended well.

Just wanted to drop in and, as a State fan, admit my appreciation for Lane Kiffin. Life is too short. It’s okay to laugh at yourself. I feel the world needs that right now.

You're referencing the Dexter McCluster game.

But don't forget, Tennessee came to Oxford in 2014. Ole Miss whipped the VOLS 34-3, held them to 0 yards rushing, and this game gave us this timeless gif:

I'm not sure I'd agree with the "our defense is better than you think". You're ranked 70th in total defense which is 12th in the SEC. Arkansas is ranked 9th and 2nd.

I mean, that's better than you were last year, but still not great.

The Hog QB is going to have to play very well for them to win then again the Johnny Rebs QB is going to have play even better for them to win.

Mistakes determine the winner......as usual

We play a ton of snaps because we play a ton of possessions and more of a bend but don’t break style. We are absolutely in the neighborhood of where we want to be though I’d like the red zone stat to be higher than 50. We give up 3.75 rushing yards per attempt. Y’all give up 3.94. I really believe that underestimating our defensive improvement is a mistake.

There is a difference between an internet user doubting the Ole Miss defense and the Hawgs' coaching staff doing the same

True. I have no doubt Briles and Pittman see it. But fans should be wary of underestimating so that they aren’t shocked and disappointed when Arkansas doesn’t run for 250 yards.

Against the Rebs, the Hawgs ran for 150 on 48 carries last season.

I know that. But others do not. That’s why I said I’d expect the running game to be a stalemate. Game will be decided in other areas. If Ealy doesn’t play we also lose our kickoff returner. And I can’t help but remember our backup returner a few years back fielding a kickoff on his way out of bounds at the 3 yard line. Against Arkansas no less. Either way, I’m expecting a close game where something wacky makes the difference.
