Now that you guys, Ole Miss, and Miss St have filled their coaching vacancies, do you wish you’d gotten Kiffin or Leach?

I know most Hog fans will say they’d rather have Pittman, but I feel like the other two made big splash hires that give them an identity and Arkansas could have done the same.

If you look at the big coaching names in the west now it’s a who’s who and “oh yeah then there’s Pittman”.

Just curious how the Hog fans feel

Nope. We could have had leach and we passed. We had lane until sexton wanted to start a bidding war and Lane wasn't worth it. I'm happy with Pittman after the staff he put together which is better than what Lane put together and will more than likely be better than State's staff.

In short, we did better than either and it will show over the next 5 years

State got turned down by everyone and panicked, threw more cash at Leach than he's worth just to try to salvage a name coach so the fanbase didn't riot. State fans are falling for it hook, line, and sinker

Wouldn’t have minded Leach. A big no from me on Kiffin - too much baggage.

While Sam Pittman isn’t know for being a head coach, he has succeeded pretty much everywhere he has been and is experienced (ie not 30 years old). If he wasn’t a great recruiter I would have more doubts, but Arkansas biggest needs are 1) Fix oline and 2) Get better talent. Pittman has historically succeeded in these two areas; so even if he gets canned we will hopefully be better off than when he came in.

Plus he hired two pretty good coordinators, so that he helped.

You guys are pretending you have Orgeron when Arkansas recruiting will never be on the level of LSU. Nor has Pittman been a head coach before and he’s 65.

Look baw everybody got the warm and fuzzys here in arkansas right now over how strong the staff has become. Personally I'm excited for the bottom half of the west in the years to come.

Would have liked leach but not with another massive buyout. We have paid too many of those the past 3 years.

All 3 are a gamble in this league, and we got the cheapest option that won't leave the program in any kind of trouble.

No one is saying we will our recruit LSU; unless you have a link? Also, Pittman has been a head coach before.

So pretty much everything you said is wrong. I award 0 points.

I'm not sure any of the 3 will be good for programs long tern.

lane is bound to jump ship either back to nfl or to another school.

leach loses to FBS teams but upsets a big win every few years.

Pittman hasnt ever been a head coach so hes pretty much unknown hopefully he can manage a game.

none of the 3

I have a hard time believing Hog fans would be saying those things about Leach and Kiffin had they hired them.

It’s kind of like when a 4 or 5 star flips on signing day. “We didn’t want him anyways”

If Pittman hadn’t hired Briles and Odom as his coordinators, probably so. However those are two home run hires for his staff so I think we’re all pretty happy with how it played out.

Pittman is 57, same age as Leach

Pittman was a head coach at a JC. Now he is a head coach

Pittman is known as a top notch o line coach and recruiter. Hogs need help in both areas.

Pittman has hired what looks like the best staff since Broyles.

Pittman costs a couple of million less than the Missipp coaches.

Pittman and staff are less than 1 month on the job and high 4 stars and a 5 star are visiting.

What's not to like about any of that?

Oh, Pittman was born and raised 75 miles from Fayetteville and has been a Razorback fan since childhood.

Yall keep digging to find ways to diss the hire. Yall scairt?

Hogs were looking for a coach 3 weeks before misstake. With millions to offer, you really think they couldn't have got him?

Kinda smells like desperation to me. Like Pruitt at Tennessee did at the time. He will win some games he shouldn't, lose some he shouldn't and maintain 4th or 5th in the West. Lots of guys who were the 4th option work out

I was against Leach from the start and never really moved above meh on Kiffin. Would I have taken either of them over Chad? Well yeah, but I'd hire the things my cat leaves in her litter box over Chad.

To the extent that I had a favorite in this coaching search it would have been Bill Clark out of UAB or Willie Fritz out of Tulane. Both have demonstrated that they can rebuild programs from nothing.

We don't need a big splashy hire at Arkansas. We need someone to get the program back on track by recruiting us into a position where we can compete.

People talk about what a great job Frank Broyles did at Arkansas, and he did do a great job. The guys they don't mention are Wyatt and Mitchell... the two HCs that preceded Broyles and turned the program around from the disaster of the Otis Douglas years.

A Broyles would be great. But we have got to at least have a Wyatt to turn things around.
