And how many of these games in Tiger Stadium occurred with a LSU team out for revenge against an Alabama team who beat them in the national championship? I think the mentality of this game will be a little bit different.

It's going to be a very good game, LSU's run last year was unexpected. This 2012 team is the one that everyone has expected to make a true run at a NC. We'll take a little hit with attrition after this year, especially on defense but we have young talent to fill those gaps within a year or two. Saban will keep Bama loaded with talent as well and this series should be pretty good for years to come

es anyone have an explanation for LSU's lack of a home field advantage against Bama?

Bama was great and LSU sucked, home field means very little with such a talent gap. Even into the 80s and 90's when LSU was beating Bama in AL they still had difficult time winning in BR.

Theres really no way you can honestly say either team will without a doubt win.

Its pretty retarded to make the assumption. Both teams have a great chance, LSU happens to be at home.

Throw out the "Bama doesn't return a lot of starters" crap, by the time november rolls around, they aren't Freshmen and Sophomores anymore, they are experienced Freshmen and Sophomores.

The reason above should be why Alabama should be worried with Arkansas, that game is REALLy early in the season.

I can't pick LSU at this point. No way to give them the edge when they have a new QB and are coming off a humiliating defeat to Bama. If QB looks good in first few games, maybe.

I doubt Coach Bryant, or more accurately assistants, alumni or boosters did anything very much different than most at the time. From 1958 - 1982 he won conference 13 times and a 232 -46 - 9 record (82.4& wins). But since his retirement almost 30 years ago
SEC champions and winning % 1983 thru 2011 season
UF - 8 75%
AU - 6 71%
UT - 5 70.7%
UGA - 3 68.6%
LSU - 6 65.6%
UA - 4 65.3%

I understand and agree that Mett will be an upgrade at QB over JJ. I also know that LSU had an outstanding team last year, while Bama lost what will likely be 5 first round draft picks.

But LSU lost two QBs, Rueben Randle, Mo Claiborne, Michael Brockers, Brandon Taylor, Ron Brooks and a couple of average LBs. LSU won't replace Randle, Claiborne, Brockers or Taylor with better players.

I just don't see any position (group) where I would give a decided advantage to either team except for the punter. Both teams have dominant lines, great RBs, good receivers, and outstanding DBs. Mett is an unknown but has great upside, McCannon was solid last year and is trending upward. Both teams could be in a bind if something happened to their number one QB.

The game will likely come down to coaching. LSU has home field and a bye week. Should be a championship atmosphere.

May turn on who has more want or the bigger chest.

No, we'll be coming off a bye week while Alabama is coming off a game. This oh-the-January-game-will-haunt-their-minds-forever mentality is retarded.

Tide rebounded from snatching defeat from a 24 point victory at home pretty well, I'm sure LSU will do likewise.

So does LSU have a "Never Again" sign up in the weight room? Or does it just say 21-0?

We heard from early December to early January about how the "revenge factor" works. No reason to believe LSU will not have the "Never Again" mentality.
