confirmed tornado in Gainesville

one of the Discovery storm chasing teams are on that one right now.

Significant Tornado Index goes on a scale of 1-10. The one in southern Tuscaloosa registers 17.1 right now.

...TORNADO EMERGENCY CONTINUES FOR PLEASENT RIDGE...MORROWS
GROVE...AND MANTUA...

AT 428 PM CDT...NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR AND STORM
SPOTTERS WERE TRACKING A LARGE AND EXTREMELY DANGEROUS TORNADO.
THIS
TORNADO WAS LOCATED NEAR JENA...OR 15 MILES SOUTHWEST OF NORTHPORT...
MOVING NORTHEAST AT 55 MPH.

THE TORNADO WILL BE NEAR...
NORTHPORT...COKER AND 8 MILES SOUTHEAST OF LAKE LURLEEN STATE PARK
AROUND 440 PM CDT.
BRYANT DENNY STADIUM AND MCFARLAND MALL AROUND 445 PM CDT.

OTHER LOCATIONS IMPACTED BY THE TORNADO INCLUDE OLIVER LOCK AND
DAM...STILLMAN COLLEGE...TUSCALOOSA MUNICIPAL AIRPORT...PALMORE
PARK...FLATWOODS...TAYLORVILLE AND UNIVERSITY OF ALABAMA QUAD.
