One would think that with how crooked everyone says Lane is, Pete would have learned something. Or maybe Pete is just really stupid and shouldn’t be running a football program.

Nothing will come from dabo bitching because he doesn’t understand how the portal works. Pete’s tenure will depend on 1) how the offense looks and
2) how well he recruits in the secondary so he doesn’t feel compelled to drop 8 on every 3rd and long

The fact that Ole Miss has done everything possible to maintain what Lane built from scratch, to include hiring someone that worked for him on the offensive side, tells the world a lot.

The advantage Ole Miss has, due to the convergence of Lane and smart guys at the Grove Collective, is a well organized programmatic system.

I think the integration of all aspects of the program (rev share, collective, player eval, coaching staff, etc) is much more important that Saban era top tier head coaches.

All that said, OM and Pete have signaled that they want to keep things essentially exactly as Lane built them.

The key for Golding is going to be hiring assistants that are better than him at what they do. If Pete's the smartest guy in the room he wont be there long.

Wrong. The one that doesn’t understand how the portal works-or is too stupid to care-is Golding who did the dumbest thing ever by texting a player signed and enrolled at another school with a financial offer of compensation.

Let’s look at the facts
quote:

Under NCAA bylaw 13.1.1.4, athletics staff members are prohibited from contacting student-athletes at other Division I institutions without authorization through the transfer notification process. According to the NCAA manual, contact after enrollment could result in a Level II violation, while providing financial inducements to secure enrollment or involving third parties could elevate the matter to a Level I violation, the most serious classification. Potential penalties range from fines and suspensions to scholarship reductions, recruiting restrictions, probation, and postseason bans.

1. Level 2-Ferrelli was no longer in the transfer portal. He has signed and enrolled at Clemson
2. Level 1-Golding did, in fact, provide financial inducements to secure his re-entry into the portal and enrollment at Ole Miss, and stupidly did it from his own cell phone.

Sure-schools are doing this every day. The difference is you have Clemson coming in with the receipts of it, and the NCAA is highly likely to make an example out of Ole Miss to send a message to the rest and try to tame the situation around the portal.
