Georgia is one strange fanbase man. Someone should write a book on it. It’s always been interesting getting the perspective from other SEC schools too. It seems to align with the whole “Fake It Until You Make It” mentality. As in, we haven’t won a NC since the early 80s yet we act like we’ve won one every few years for the past 40-50 years. Remember the whole Stafford, AJ, Moreno where they were guaranteed to win the title and they fell flat on their face? That was epic. After the season Georgia fans were just kind of whistling with their hands in their pockets. I think we actually ended up being better than UGA that year going 9-4 or something. But then there’s all this “UGA is in a different universe” delusion. Dude you guys have been a mid-tier SEC team for several years now with the exception of last year. We smoked you guys 45-14 the last time we played which I think was less than two years ago? You guys had talent too and were ranked. I’m really glad now you guys didn’t win the title and choked in OT. I rooted for UGA in the game, but forget it. I’d rather Bama collect another one vs some tripping fanbase that loses the NC then tries to beat their chest for finishing first in recruiting. As they say, let’s see it translate on the field. I really have wanted to see UGA pull through but your fan base doesn’t make it easy. Remember that game against Colorado in 2008 or so? I was at Vortex Burger just laughing at how quiet it got around me as I enjoyed my Black n’ Blue Burger and Tots. Too many of those to remember growing up in Atlanta. There’s always this year!

Dude have you ever been to the Vortex Burger? They were on the Food Network as they are well known for their homemade blue cheese and excellent burgers. There’s also this concept called memory.

so you think it is a coincidence that Bama has won 5-of-last 10 National Championships while having the #1 class in 6-of-last-7 years? really?

Nick Saban is a GREAT coach but he is smart enough to know the #1 reason he wins Nattys is because he has the best talent.

Kirby learned everything he knows about college football and recruiting under Saban - he was Saban's top recruiter in those 8 years they were together at Bama (plus stints w/ Dolphins and LSU). He has had the #6, #3 and now the #1 recruiting class - so he is still behind Saban who is #1, #1, and now #6 but he is gaining on him quickly.

At the end of the day, the team with the best talent will usually win if it is coached competantly and Kirby and his staff have already proved they are good at coaching while getting to the Natty and almost winning in two short years.

We all know it sucks for other SEC teams that were hoping their college team would be the next one to challenge Bama .

Dawgs also hold the early lead for #1 class in 2019.

All this really does is show how far your program has dropped and ours has risen in that time span.

I think it translated a little bit last year, and yes some people have been overzealous with their posts, but this class should put us in a great place going forward.

It was 2010, but that was 8 years ago. Y’all lost to Jacksonville State that season. Don’t think you should have been laughing at anybody that year.

You do realize that OleMi$$ was cheatin' like a MoFo then, right? Further, you also realize we have a different head coach then, right?

again, hate to point out facts - but you want to tie Kirby Smart and the new regime to the old Mark Richt regime. Richt was a good coach but he was not a relentless recruiter like Kirby and he didn't emphasize dominating the LOS the way Kirby does and he let the AD boss him around. Kirby has taken over UGA, down to the last detail. He has structured the UGA football program in the same vein as Bama. While Bama still has some advantages (money) - UGA is closing that gap.

Moreover, Georgia high school football talent is the 4th best in the United States and the best per capita by far. Bama, Clemson, Auburn, Tennessee, Florida State and Florida have consistently raided the state for top talent under the Richt regime. While the Dawgs will never keep all the talent in the state, Kirby Smart has really dominated the state in a way that Richt never touched. This year, Kirby got 8 out of top 11 players in state and one of the ones he didn't get was QB Trevor Lawrence and that wasn't going to happen because we got Fields and you couldn't sign both (Lawrence did commit to Clemson before Fields to UGA).

Sure it is fair for you and others to point to UGA and say - "you don't have a long history at the top" - totally fair criticism. However, people like you are in denial about what is happening at UGA and, maybe just hoping it doesn't come true.

Georgia is for real and they will be a factor year-in and year-out.

So, it is your contention that you remember what you had for lunch 10 years ago?

There is also this concept of lying. I'm sure you are well familiar with it.

Obviously there's a broad spectrum of fans. I'm in the category of pretty much always waiting for disappointment, because Georgia has crushed my soul so many times.

But I can understand Georgia having a lot of rabid fans / pride - if you get out of the "nothing matters except national championships" mentality, Georgia has done very well, very consistently, particularly since the beginning of the Richt era. They've been a top-10 over the course of the last 20 years, and really only had a couple of "bad" seasons in that span. National championship or not, 9-12 win seasons get people excited.

Should Oregon not have excited, crazy fans, just because they've never won a national championship? They had a really fun run, and a couple of national championship appearances is pretty awesome, and something to be proud of, even if you don't win.

Every fanbase loves their team and wants to think they're the best. Georgia is no different.

They are so excited over getting some good recruits, and being 1st runner up in the CFP that I suspect some may soil their silver britches. Now, all spring and summer we get to hear about how Kirby n them are juuuuuusst about to do something. Its hilarious.

You seem so confused in many of your replies. I'm not comparing Missouri to Georgia. Do you understand ? I'm commenting about Georgia and recent the pompous bloviation.

Yeah. So? I am comparing Mizzou to their own futility, and finding it ironic for a Mizzou fan to be talking bad about Georgia.

And I am just remembering this past summer/Fall when your fans were guaranteeing you would win the SEC East.

Georgia has had good recruits before, this is the first time it's this good but Richt was averaging the #8 recruiting class every single year.

Still no championship.

It's not all about the 'cruits, football acumen is also important.

you didn't have to say anything else, this is correct. Richt would have a top ~10 class which was good for 3rd/4th in the SEC. Bama/LSU/UF et al would reel in the top 2 or 3 classes.

Last year we had the 3rd class (2nd in the SEC) and this year we have the 1st overall. Anyone ignoring that massive uptick in talent is being willfully ignorant.
