Not a sore spot, we’re just tired of people bringing it up constantly when the answer hasn’t changed

That makes a lot of sense.

If y'all played them every year, then a loss here and there wouldn't matter because you will establish clear superiority over the long run but playing them once or twice and losing (which would be possible but highly unlikely imo) would leave a massive bruise on the program

This is a weird out-of-conference GOF pride thread.

People think that if we lose to Arkansas State, we are going to see a mass exodus of players from here to State. If we are after a kid and his only two options are Arkansas or Arkansas State, we are in trouble.

Nobody is going to pass up the chance to play at Arkansas and play in the SEC to go play in the Sun Belt if they have SEC talent.

I say schedule whoever you want. I think UA/ASU would be a fun in state rivalry. Their fanbase talks a lot of shite because they think they can beat us(and they probably could last year) but I'd love to smash them and shut them up.

I just want to say I agree, and there should be no reason to shy away from scheduling opponents for reasons only because of football pride. Teams in the same university system or state even should play for the good of both institutions--which could be financial support or just easy wins. This also applies to Bama-UAB, which also doesn't make sense to me.
I was looking through records and it looks like all but Vandy, Kentucky, and USCe have played Arkansas St.
