We have already played them twice since 1997, and they are third on our slate for the upcoming season. Why haven't you two teams met on the gridiron when you are instate opponents (and a small state at that)? IS their bad blood between the two schools?

Both south Carolina P5 schools rotate between other in-state teams yearly to help out the smaller schools' athletic departments. Seems like playing once in awhile would be a win-win for both teams.

They had something about not playing any in-state teams at all in football for like 65 years, now they are set to play their first one since forever ago...

Why is Arkansas on your mind?

Basically this thread sums up as, "we play them but you dont, but I need to know why".

Grats on playing Arkansas State, I wasnt aware they are someone who should be played.

Arkansas believes in the model of refusing to play instate schools to prevent them from gaining attention and possibly becoming a threat.

I don’t disagree with them or think it’s cowardly tbh. Smart business.

We are a small state and the decision was made some time ago to avoid playing in state schools and dividing the loyalty of the state.

We have recently begun to change that philosophy and I expect UAPB and possibly UCA to wind up on the football schedule, while the above teams and UALR will get basketball and baseball games.

As for Arkansas State, we may play them eventually. Right now we have zero to gain and everything to lose by playing them. You might get your panties in a wad by me saying this... but there it is. It is not in our best interest to play them so we won't.

It isn't just us. You will note, as an example, Alabama isn't falling over themselves to schedule UAB right now.

If Georgia wants to play them, or Missouri, or any other SEC team... knock yourselves out. It isn't what is best for our program right now to do that so we won't.

Dont be nice to the guy if he cant use common sense and figure that out. Odd how a Ole Miss fan replied with the correct answer, before you, but a Georgia fan couldnt figure it out.

I asked it because I was genuinely curious. You got so defensive when I asked. I now see it's a sore spot for your program

Because it is a dumb question to ask. If your team has been around 6-6 (which we havent been) would you schedule an instate team that could knock your team off? There is literally nothing to benefit us by playing them, yet terrible if we lost - which we probably would.

I can give you a sincere answer, but your OP is dumb to ask.

Who are you calling dumb? Don't you know college football schedules are made 5-10 years in advanced? That would mean if you were to play them in the upcoming season, they would have been scheduled back during your good years. Who is the dummy now?

So are we supposed to go back in time and fix this? Your last comment shows your OP is dumb.
