No - I'm not and he's not nor are you or any shmuck on this site. Alabama isn't ok with it nor is Auburn, LSU nor any other school.
Clay Travis makes money getting shmucks like you and TigerBob and PenisTom to "talk" about it. He doesn't care if its true or false just that you click on it.
Do you honestly believe that Alabama or any other university would turn a blind eye to its players doing it or even allow a "rogue booster" to continue unabated without several lawyers insuring that said actions didn't interfere with the schools ability to continue to make millions - especially if it was a rinse and repeat buffoon like Al Betar?
Please... Clay Travis continues to play people you for tools and he laughs about it over drinks. I know.

The auburn posting is exactly like the Alabama posting, I mean it isn't like this is only a problem at Alabama. Shady guys gonna be Shady.

Fixed it for you.

No, you didn't fix it for me. That was my feeling at the time. No one wants to get in trouble, but if someone breaks a rule, the punishment should come down. And it should come down fairly for all schools, following the rules the NCAA has set up themselves. Otherwise, chaos reigns - and unfortunately it does.

(using current players to endorse a business is an NCAA violation)?

Honestly, I could care less what the players do. It happens EVERYWHERE! My point was the guy went on this high-horse tantrum about it, when someone associated, for lack of a better word, with Auburn is doing the same thing.
Clay is going to "write" stories that gets his website hits. He never digs into anything on his own, not a Charles Robinson type guy, but more of a guy that takes tips off twitter and half asses a "story" making assumptions and everything else.
Honestly, name me the most passionate fanbase in college football? Now, college basketball? Now, the NFL?
You think there is a reason he had them 1 and 2 in his fanbase list? Of course there was, hits on his blog. I don't go to his site but I am sure the Steelers were on there. He is always ripping on them.
*Disclaimer, his listing is probably correct with Bama being number 1, seeing as how more and more stories come out in regards to things some of the crazier fans have done. Additionally, I give him credit, he somehow gets people to visit his site and make a living off of it.

Really, this should just open the door for active paying of players and breaking rules by everyone. And I guess it has. Some are more blatant than others. Glad you're proud of it.
What player on Alabama's football team is profiting from this?
Well, who knows who's profiting? That's why there should be an investigation - like there is for anything similar at other schools - to see if there is a real violation. After all, it "seems" to be wrong for so many players (but only the good ones with valuable autographs) to hang out in a clothing store for no reason but because Tom's a cool guy and all.

The auburn posting is exactly like the Alabama posting
The Alabama posting has an inordinate amount of signed, game worn memorabilia from known current players being offered for sale by a person who was specifically instructed by the University not to do so because it could endanger the program and/or the specific athletes.
The Auburn posting is 1 game worn jersey signed by an unknown player from an unknown seller. It may be from someone that is now a former player.

is the NCAA selling game worn autographed merchandise?
I don't think they ever sold "game worn" stuff, but they definitely sold jerseys and profited from specific player's names. E.g. you could search for "Manziel" and get a #2 jersey with the name="Football". If anybody else had done this it would have been scandalous. They're powerless on this Bama deal because of their own actions.

If he is a former player, why the issue not to show the name? Seems like a smart business move in terms of possible buyers to let them know what jersey they will be getting.

You okay with this? From a couple of posts up.
LINK
No, I'm not okay if it's a current player and a violation. If the NCAA investigates it and finds something wrong, so be it. People know.
If my school was disassociating a booster (why?) and that booster was doing the same thing he was disassociated for and having contact with current players (which he was ordered not to do), I would worry and NOT be good with it.

so they were doing nothing like what is happening here.

Show of hands: Who actually thinks Bama gets in trouble for this? Not who wants Bama to get in trouble. Who ACTUALLY thinks something happens?
My hand isn't up. I don't expect any trouble for the Tide. At all.
And BTW - since when is Clay Travis a respected journalist? He'll hit all of our programs at some point (except you, Tennessee. he loves you).

Obviously photoshopped. Nick Saban doesn't smile.

Listen, I have not been to Clay's blog in the past year or two. So I have no idea what the "article" said, but I am sure there are plenty of holes in it due to the lack of research Clay does. I can imagine Clay getting the tip in his twitter with a few pictures and then writing a story on nothing but assumption.
Honestly, I trust Coach Saban and everyone with ties to the Athletic Department that everything is in order. Or, as close to in order as it can be.

I care not one whit about Clay Travis and whether he lies or tells the truth. I do remember a picture though (which doesn't lie) of a current (at the time - Trent or Julio or somebody) Alabama player standing at a table signing a jersey. There were stacks of jerseys beside him and boxes of jerseys at his feet. Tom was standing there watching him. What is the difference between this and what Manziel was alleged to have done in the hotel room that garnered so much criticism.
Right or wrong, it's the double standard that is galling. The majority of programs would not dare let a disassociated booster run a store selling merchandise just because of the impropriety of it - how it looks. Bammer has the lawyers to find the loopholes, I guess, and if players are profiting from signing autographs, that is an extra benefit the honest programs don't have.
