Didn't happen with Walker either.

Hershel played only 1 team that ended up in the top20 in 1980. And that was #7 Notre Dame. Against Notre Dame, he was gifted the points he scored by the Notre Dame offense(Georgia defense if you prefer) turning the ball over multiple times.

Walker wasn't able to drive the field and score a single time otherwise in that game.

Perhaps the easiest schedule a NC has ever won on, in competition with 1984 BYU.

In 1981, Walkers 2nd year, he played 2 teams that ended in the top20. Lost to both of them. Failing to even score against Clemson

In 1982, Walker played again only 2 ranked teams all year. They won 1 of them and lost 1. However, the game Georgia won - Walker was only used as a decoy.

So in his 3 year career at Georgia, he faced a total of 5 teams ranked at the end of the year. In his entire career, he never once faced another ranked SEC team, as Georgia would rarely play the good teams of the SEC - a tradition that still continues.

Bo Jackson faced 6 top20 teams in 1983 alone, and beat 5 of them. Walker only had 1 top20 win that he was a factor in over his entire 3 year career.

Bo > Walker

Did Auburn and Georgia play that year? Where was it at? Who won? That could be a good determination.

Auburn beat Georgia in 1983, but Walkers last year at Georgia was 1982. Walker never played against an SEC team that finished the year ranked.

Georgia still finished 4th that year, and Auburn won. #4 team was a higher ranked win than Walker ever managed(#7 vs Notre Dame in 1980).

Of course, Auburn had many other ranked games they won that year as well.

Great player, though I'd go with Bo Jackson.

Those political ambitions are going to need some luck, especially if that family tree keeps branching out.

Tennessee's defense gave up 100 fewer points in 1998 than they did in 1997.

And he's also a complete frickin' helmet head. It won't be long before he needs a drool cup.

You ever say that to his face and a drool cup won't be enough for you.

Its hard for me to separate Herschel from Larry Munson, the legendary UGA announcer. "My God he's just a freshman!" and Hobnail Boot will blow your hair back. The other game I remember was when UGA/Herschel came to Auburn in 1982(?) and won 13-7 IIRC. My six-year old arse cried like a baby. I later listened to Munson call the last five minutes of that game and he was so emotionally invested in the outcome that I forgot to be an AU alum for a few minutes. Him and Jim Fiffe were amazing.

Talking about his mental instability isn't really helping your case.

You mean other than the fact that Herschel was measurably faster and stronger than Bo? Which pure athletic traits are you referencing?

I think they competed in the 100 yard dash at AU when Mel Rosen was still our track coach. I think Bo won by a gnats hair but it doesn't really matter. Herschel may have lost footing or something. If they ran ten times they'd probably split the wins. Herschel was more productive at UGA than Bo was at AU.

Both were unbelievable athletes. Most people say something like 'generational talents' but I think they transcend that description. Who was better? I'd put Barry Sanders in there. Derek Henry maybe? Henry was a different type of back but is more productive at UA than anyone.

Facts. Not "I think".

More productive in 3 years versus 4 for Bo.
The leading rusher in 1979 for UGA had 589 yards.
The leading rusher in 1983 for UGA had 519 yards.
Herschel managed to squeeze 5,259 yards in the 3 seasons in between.

I don't think you understand that Herschel was running world class track events and coming in second to Carl Lewis.

Ok, Ok. Settle down Beavis. I'm not related to either of them so I'm not going to check your math. It is decided; Herschel was better than Bo. So says sizzle chest meansonny.

Facts don't care about your feels.

Herschel has meet times.
10.10 in the 100m wind aided.
10.23 in the 100m wind legal.
6.11 in the 55m.

I only responded because someone referenced pure athlete.
