Not sure why this makes you so happy. He still managed to kick the shite out of A&M.

I would add UCLA to a desirable coaching destination above LSU. They have Texas type numbers of talent in that state with mainly USC and UCLA at the top of the food chain. Not to mention the campus, weather, beaches, bitches, hottest Asian bitches in the world, Hollywood, etc, etc, etc.

Ha ha. Your expectations are completely out of wack. the younger generation of LSU fans have a rude awakening coming. Y'all are gravitating toward the mean and it won't be pretty.

I don't think Herman is going to leave Houston, especially if they get a Big 12 invite. If he did though I think LSU would be one job he would leave for. I just see him as a Texas guy like Art Briles and Gary Patterson though.

You serious Clark?

Florida and Texas are arguably the top two programs based on resources, talent in the immediate area, large fan bases, and money with in the program.

I'd put Bama and Ohio State next in line. Bama has the SEC to deal with and Auburn right next door with stiff competition. Ohio State is on the verge of being the top over all program.

Follow that up with UGA, Michigan, LSU, and possibly USC.

After that, Oklahoma, Notre Dame, maybe Florida State...Maybe aTm.

While Florida State has a great recruiting bed, it doesn't have the resources (dedication to it's athletics) that many other top programs do. Why the in the hell do you think Jimbo was about to jump ship.

aTm - always second fiddle to UT and will never be a top 8 job...especially with the emergence of Houston as a player.

Tenn. barely a top 25 program. Hell they are middle of the road in the SEC.

Oregon doesn't have the talent base to work with, they pick up guys from across the country but it isn't sitting in their back yard. but they are knocking on the door to being elite.

Miami, are you serious? Their educational institution has prohibited them from being a top 15 program. Talent in the area - yes. Resources - NO. not even close.

And as far as Herman goes, with the possible 5 mill if Houston joins the Big 12. Would you take a job offering 6.5 -7 mill at LSU guaranteed? Or a possible 5 mill bonus with your 3-5 mill contract?
And yes, word is LSU will put up 6.5-7 mill for a coach.

I don't think they are allowed to join

Texas would be elevating another school that would be an attractive destination for their recruits.

Tons of talent in Houston area HS.

Think Miami in the 80s

They will be allowed to join but only after Oklahoma bolts for the SEC.

If Oklahoma goes to SEC(doubtful-we want NC and or VA schools) there will be no Big 12

We don't want Oklahoma. We want the Virginia and North Carolina markets.

For example, what makes Miami above LSU? Surely not their stadium, program income, conference, fan base or uniforms. I agree they are located in a great recruiting area, but so is LSU, in a state with the highest per capita D1 football recruits and no other major FBS football school, sitting next to Texas and with a pipeline to Florida for 4 & 5 star DBs. Some of the other schools you listed are suspect as well.

Notre Dame, Tennessee, and Michigan are not your grandfathers teams any longer. Although Notre Dame has a national recruiting base, when was the last time their recruiting class was ranked above LSU's. When did they last win a national championship? Tennessee is located in a state that produces few D1 prospects. When did they or Michigan last win a national title? To the kids today, those 3 are not held in such high esteem as they were back in the day. Florida? Texas A&M? Questionable.

Alabama, Georgia, Ohio State, USC, I have no argument with. The rest I can make the argument that LSU is above each. And that is based on the present, not on what happened back in the day.

LSU is the first team to have won two BCS titles. It annually has top 10 recruiting classes and over the last 10 years is number 3 or 4 in overall recruiting ranking. It's coaching staff is the highest paid staff in college football. It's stadium has consistently been rated the best in the country. It's fan base has consistently been ranked among the best. It's uniforms have been ranked the best or among the best. Because of the foregoing, I'd rank LSU easily a top 8 program and would make it number 5 behind Alabama, Georgia, Ohio State, and USC.

No. What we want is for The Big 12 and the ACC to stay marginalized as they are. We have inherent geographical advantages over them we want to maintain.

Won't happen unless we take UVA and VaTech and UVA isn't leaving the ACC.

No UNC w/o Duke and Duke won't leave ACC.

Maybe Clemson but they would be crazy to leave their ACC division for the SEC east.

How long ago was that and there is a different educational administration that won't let that happen.
