Think any of them are rethinking their decisions? The teams they transferred from seem to be doing better without them, and also better than the team they transferred to

Yeah they weren’t as important as they thought they were.

At the very least, one of them has probably hurt their draft stock: Burton.

He went from average numbers at a school not known to be a passing team, to average numbers at a school with the returning Heisman winning QB that put up otherworldly numbers with a pair of receivers last year.

Had he stayed at UGA, maybe his numbers are better, but maybe he can explain it away, if not.

Gotta be a humbling experience. But also a case study in why I think this NIL/transfer portal thing will sort itself out in the near future. It's one thing to pluck from the portal if it's from a G5 or lower P5 school that had a big year, it's a whole different thing plucking from conference rivals.

I'm not a UGA or UT fan so I'm not going to pretend I know the ins and out on why those transfers happened, they can speak on that more than me. But as far as Ricks goes, I know LSU made every effort available to keep Boutte here when he was thinking about leaving for Bama, and we succeeded in keeping him here. They did no such thing for Ricks, they just let him go.

I'm not saying you never try to kick the tires on in-conference transfers but idk, maybe if the conference opponent isn't making a big push to retain the guy you're trying to pluck that might be a bit of a red flag. Just seems like this past offseason we saw a few teams just load up on blind faith whatever the ranking system says were the best guys, and tried to make it work. Rather than having your own standard and going out to find guys that would fit into the program and image you want to create, whether they were 5*s or P5 transfers or whatever. I just wonder if they're really vetting the guys they're taking in or just looking at a database and blindly going after what that machine says you should do.

True. Transfers are a double edged sword, as some of these KIDS are learning. I hope they all get good advice and listen to it, with regards to this truth.

Cox comes to mind with UGA to UF, although I did hear that his transfer was one of necessity, as he may or may not have been let go from the team.

Turns out, he WAS let go from UF.

Coaches ought to take care with due diligence when evaluating these kids.

He sure did LSU a favor by leaving, and he did LSU many more favors Saturday night.

Football will always be a team sport if you want to win. A few talented players is not going to make a consistent winner. You need a full team that is cohesive. A lot of these self important kids don’t realize your talent alone isn’t going to fix that.

There are good reasons to transfer, but go to another conference. In this sport if they’re going to a rival it is kind of a red flag.

Jermaine Burton

When Burton left I understood why. He wanted to put up huge statistics, and he was going to a team that had the returning Heisman Trophy QB and tended to focus on one or two receivers a year. I thought he made the correct choice just looking at it from his perspective.

I even argued this point with another of our posters. I was wrong.

Henry To'oto'o

I would bet everything that Bama fans have been disappointed with him. He starts but doesn't have that dog in him. He takes bad angles and was scared to take on Josh Williams straight up last Saturday night.

Agreed.

And honestly the SEC should put a stop to intraconference transfers.

Seems like something you’d vet out on your end. Like does LSU do the same thing? It appears you’ve take four transfers from within the conference last year.

Or if LSU does it they really did their homework and made sure there are no red flags where every other school in the conference is just Willy nilly fly by the seat of their pants just going off 247 rankings. Nope.

Did Eli get off the ground after the last TD or is he buried in Death Vally? I watched Brian Thomas Jr bury him
