Back under the old Tidesports format, people were given former player names based on post count... there was "Namath level", "Stabler", "Alexander", etc... Everyone started out as a "Gilmer" - named for former Bama great Harry Gilmer. People started throwing the word around as an insult - essentially calling people a "newb" and discrediting their posts because of their lack of posting history, and the name stuck - even after Tidesports changed the format and got rid of all of the player names.
