What I’ve never understood is if so many players are getting paid (and they are) how come more stories don’t come out about it.

i.e. former players not saying anything.

My opinion is two fold. One, they don't want to get their school in trouble. Two, they don't want to ruin the opportunity for the younger players to get that money as well.

You do understand that person was taking bribes to get our best players to sign with agents, etc. Which would be steering kids AWAY from playing at Auburn right?

Compensating players doesn't bother me in the slightest. The only thing I really care about is academic fraud/elevating GPA's-faking scores-changing grades etc. Because that's the entire mission of the University and it hurts the value of a college degree for everybody who ever went there. But walking around cash, cars, etc? Who GAF.

Bothers me. I hope any and all schools who are paying for recruits, including Alabama if it's the case, are caught and given serious penalties. It is straight up 100% cheating and the kind of thing the NCAA needs to focus on.

But let me tell you what doesn't bother me: $100 handshakes. Getting a textbook for cheap or being frugal with the money you are given as part of your scholarship. And many other things like that, after they are on campus, that would generally just be called a "hook up" in any other context. While I understand why the NCAA has to take a stance on such things, I don't consider them to be cheating and don't really care about it. OBJ handing out cash didn't bother me in the least.

But pay for recruits to come to your school is cheating and I hope everyone who does such things is busted hardcore. Saban isn't getting paid big money to cheat.

That said, I don't think actual cheating is as common as people make it out to be. I'm sure the "hook ups" happen pretty often at all schools, but these days schools spend a lot money on the program itself to attract kids.

Well when you look at the NCAA rule book and read the rules, under each rule there is an example of the violation and the majority of them will reference Bama...

That's cute.

Everything I said was 100% accurate. Why would I make up a story like that?

We know nothing will come of this without a ridiculous level of idiocy from those recorded, so I just hope it includes the words "strong arse offer" for the laughs

I absolutely understand that. But that doesn't change the fact that under Bruce's watch, his Asst HC was getting active Auburn players paid which is an NCAA violation under any circumstances.

Auburn Compliance stepped in and imposed their own sanctions by sitting the players a year, having the $$ repaid and they cut recruiting visits. You have a hard arse compliance dept, so they apparently saw that even though Persons was taking bribes so the best players would sign with agents after they left AU, it was still an NCAA violation.

Has the NCAA even made a statement? Sent Auburn a NOA? Did the NCAA investigate or conclude an investigation? IDK

I don't think the NCAA gives a shite that it even happened or else they would've handed down some sort of probationary period with sanctions already served by Auburn. These were active Auburn employees/student athletes/AU alumni parents breaking the rules.

He should be eligible for a senior discount, also. I hope they aren't ripping him off on that just because they think he can afford it.

That would really piss me off.
