He sounds like one of those guys too dumb to get into Texas or A&M and ended up at TCU by default. That's one thing I've noticed since living in Texas is that there are tons of dudes who went to lesser colleges in Texas that walk around pretending to be a Texas alum. I've never understood rooting for another college over the one you attended. I'd never root for Miami, FSU, UCF, etc. I had a neighbor a few years ago who was a huge Texas fan even though he went to SFA. Big Longhorn flag on his flag pole out front, man room decked out in Longhorn decorations. Longhorns stickers all over his truck. The weird thing is he'd never stepped foot on the Texas campus and had never even been to Austin

Just find me a crew in the SEC who can call a holding penalty and I am happy.

I think he called a late hit on the WR by the safety with a glancing shot on the sideline after the ball had sailed out of bounds

I have no problem with fans of my school. If they lie about being an alum, that is different, but if they want to wear all the gear, I say there is plenty of room on the wagon and don’t look down my nose at them.

I remember last year hearing about two games where the refs pulled enough shite that it helped Texas win. I believe the game against University of Houston was one of them.
Yep. That was the only game I walked out the house and started pulling weeds in the backyard. Came back in and we won. I couldn’t believe it.

The SEC cannot allow this Texas businessman to ref Texas games.
At this point they might want to go back and take a look at any games he officiated where the result was going to significantly affect Texas, if there are any, just because of the call he already over turned.

Corrupt or incompetent. You decide

That's why I am saying go back and look at any possible thing. The way you identify corruption is a long term pattern.
That's one of the reason I tend to think there is more corruption like this than people think, it's really easy for refs to cheat and just say "judgement call" the only way you can catch them is establishing patterns, unless they really mess up bad, and even then, they can still just claim mistake on any single, really bad, call.

Most of the referees for UTrans games show a consistent pattern. Many of them wear the gear in their off time. Corrupt would be my call

This is the only example of a missed call that’s been repeated over and over by Texas fans.

The head of NFL officiating 10 or 20 years ago was an Auburn alum (don’t remember his name). He set up a tour of the NFL home office on a Monday morning in NYC. My wife (no pics) worked for Auburn and was dragging a bunch of alums on the tour. Luck me got to tag along.
There was a large room with people sitting at desks watching all the games from Sunday. I started a conversation with one guy and he explained they watch every play of every game played and grade each referee’s performance.
They also hand out penalties and fines to players after the game. I watched him send a $20,000 fine to a Cowboy offensive lineman for an illegal block that was missed by the refs during the game… on Monday morning!
The SEC would benefit from spending time with the NFL and should institute some quality control improvement initiatives. It’s my opinion officiating is the weakest link of the SEC football product.

This is par for the course with the sec. It’s usually been a bama issue though not a Texas.
The conference is big enough and has enough money. The refs should have zero ties to the schools

This was a huge issue in the Big XII... The number of officials who were from Texas and had ties to Texas programs was pretty significant compared to the number of officials in other states in the conference.
He moved on to reffing SEC games when the Big 12 became a thing because of his Texas ties. Not sure how the Big 12 had that figured out and the SEC didn’t.

Now you know how Saints fans felt with the No Call against the SHAMS. I bet you made fun of us back then tho.
