I've been sitting on this one until I confirmed all of the QBs met with Jimbo and until the team knew who earned the QB1 role after a highly competitive fall camp battle. After today's simulated game, I'm comfortable breaking the news that third-year man Haynes King has earned the starting nod to open the season.

Kind of a poorly kept secret. I’d heard on Birmingham local radio for the past week that King was going to be starting.

That's like winning being the captain of the Titanic this year. Floating today, sunk in November.

It’s not hard to make a 50/50 guess. Things seemed to be trending in King’s direction for the last week or so, now it’s confirmed.

Meanwhile at LSU, a Pac 12 reject is looking like QB1.

He has to last long enough without injury to reach that mark

The only truth is that A&M has to try and go into Tuscaloosa and make it respectable without a qb

Most Aggies I know don’t even care about this year they say it’s Playoffs or bust next year and should be the best Aggie team in 30 years

2 top 5 finishes since 2012. I wonder how many programs can say that?

We haven’t yet named a starter, but I’d be fine if it’s Daniels. There’s a reason why Max left, he knew his starting days were numbered with a healthy Brennan and a surging Nussmeier.

Well, turned out Brennan ended up behind both Daniels and Nuss after the competition, so I’m not really concerned if Daniels is named our starter. Max would have been 3rd string on our team at best, maybe even 4th behind Brennan before Myles walked away.

See for yourself. A&M isn't one of them.
