1992 Bama's Copeland stuns AU's Stan White

quote:

Seeing White - November 26, 1992 - Auburn QB Stan White had a tough day as the Tigers failed to put up a single score throughout the entire game against Alabama. White threw a pick in the third quarter that was returned 61 yards for a touchdown. He then took a monstrous hit in the next quarter from John Copeland that knocked him out of the game. Alabama won 17-0, and went on to win the national championship in the Sugar Bowl. LINK

Bama's Cornelius Bennett knocked out ND's QB Steve Beuerlein.... "The Sack"

quote:

In a 1986 game against the Alabama Crimson Tide, Beuerlein was on the receiving end of one of the more notable sacks in college football history. Alabama linebacker Cornelius Bennett, who would go on to a Pro Bowl NFL career, knocked Beuerlein unconscious with a hit that was featured by sports artist Daniel Moore in the painting "The Sack." Even after his NFL career ended, Beuerlein would claim that "The Sack" was the hardest he\'d ever been hit.He graduated with a degree in American Studies. LINK

quote:

"He knocked me woozy. I have never been hit like that before and hopefully, I'll never be hit like that again." -Notre Dame QB Steve Beuerlein after Cornelius Bennett's sack in the 1986 game.

The hit and tackle by Clowney should be a required watch for anyone asked to make tackles. T'was one of the best I have seen in a while. Is he the only one? No, but it was pretty damn perfect execution.

Alex Brown got a sack on Tee Martin in 1999 that looked sorta like the Clowney hit. I can't find a video or gif of it though.

I still have to go with Clowneys due to the fact what it came after. Big time play!

Danley walked off the field on his own power and proceeded to rush for 80+ more yards in that game.

And Clowney's hit was impressive visually, but that was a MUCH larger guy blowing up a smaller guy.

When Carlo Cheatthom knocked out Reggie Cobb, that was a smaller guy knocking out a much larger guy. And he was knocked out... knocked out cold and knocked out of the game. Check out Cobb's arms when he lands... the classic "I've been knocked the frick out" pose. Plus, Cheatthom caused and recovered the fumble.

To me it is not so much the destruction of the player, but the technique of the tackle. Face mask in the chest, wrap up, and explode through the player. That is all I am really commenting on.

Sheldon Brown (also a Gamecock) when he was with the Eagle teeing-off on Reggie Bush. Some claim it to be the hardest they've every seen real-time ...

And Bush was practically crippled ...

Just look up earl Campbell on YouTube. And he is on offense. He used to crush motherfrickers. Hershel walker as well

This wasn't a hard hit, but I always kind liked it.

Best hit occurs at 0:50

You can take the player out of the ghetto, but you can't take the ghetto out of the player.

frick yeah, Bosworth had been talking shite all week of that game too. I remember that shite like it was yesterday. I was a HUGE Bo Jackson fan, even as a Bammer, he was the reason I am a Raiders fan today.
