We have the Sugar Bowl because of Tulane
Alabama is a football power because of Tulane
Minnesota was Saban before Saban because of Tulane

If Tulane did not respect academics over athletics it could have easily been the top SEC school in football.

1929 Bernie had brought 27' Tulane to 9-0
1930 Bernine went 8-1
1931 Bernie went 11-1

Bernie left Tulane for the B1G and the Gophers of Minnesota where winning was more important and till WW II led the Gophers on a Saban like run of college football.

Shaughnessy (before Bernie) was the coach that led Tulane to the Rose Bowl invites in the 1920's but the administration would not allow the players to play in line of their studies. Alabama went in their place, and the rest is history

Like Stagg at Chicago (a B1G founder) a potential great football school was overshadowed by the academic mission of the school. Alabama in the SEC and Ohio State in the B1G owe a great deal of their history to this choice.

I was talking about undefeated seasons, not championships. I have no problem with you bragging about championships. Fans should.

I made a simple statement about UF's lack of an undefeated season in football despite having an accomplished athletic department.

You then went off on a tangent stating that I was bragging about Auburn having 1 championship compared to UF's 3 championships in the last thirty years.

Can you post a link/quote where I ever stated such?
