a few years ago it was LSU and Georgia that were dominating the conference. the SEC is cyclical, just like every other conference, league and sport.
This. Right now it's Bama and UF. LSU has the talent to be considered. Coaching has to step up.

No...you can get your arse kicked every weekend in the SEC. Alabama is playing good football right now and looks to be good again this year but we can lose LSU, Auburn, Florida, USCe, Miss. St., Ole Miss, Arkansas or any other SEC game we play all year.
No other conference is like the SEC. I know that is hard for others to accept but the SEc is the best conference in the country and number 2 isn't even close.

other teams (than Bama) have won the SEC west in recent memory.
Ark Nutt
LSU 3 times
Auburn Tupp
and it has only been with the advent of Saban that Bama is high on the hog.
So.. the analogy is not a good one. MICH and tOSU were more dominant, for longer, when Bo and Woody were coaching, than Bama and Florida are.
Wisc has won a couple, Illinois won one, NW won one and Penn State won one.
Maybe the whole idea of B2 is no longer true.
tOSU has been dominant. I dont see Mich in the picture.

Bo never won shite in the form of a NC. Guy was a mediocre coach in a shitty conference.

No. I think Bama and UF are undeniably stronger right now, but not by a very wide margin.
I don't and anyone who thinks that is fricked up in the head.
FL Has plenty of weakness that can be exposed... their running game for one.
Bama will have a young secondary, and those that think Saban will never get blown away are living in a little dream world.
Bama and FL right now are on top, but undeniably stronger is complete BS

For now it is. When Urban Meyer changed his mind a couple months ago and decided to continue coaching at Florida, I was absolutely ecstatic. It would have been frustrating winning the SEC every year while knowing at the back of your mind that things would have been much more challenging if Urban Meyer hadn't stepped down due to health problems. If/when LSU decides to hire a stronger coach than Les Miles, I would put them right up there with Bama and Florida. But for now, there's an ever widening gap between Bama, Florida and the rest of the SEC.

you are Delusional if you think it is a two horse race.
Come November you will find out where that secret playbook has been

I mean, 2008, who thought Bama was going to be as good as they were? Not even bama fans.
So right now, we think UF and Alabama are so far ahead of everyone else.
But this is the SEC. Would anyone really be truly shocked if UGA or LSU or even Arkansas or Auburn won their division? No. It could happen easily. Heck even SC could win the east. It's not crazy to think it.
The SEC is not a two horse race. Alabama and UF might be the best and strongest horses in the conference right now, but it doesn't mean they'll win the race. Plenty of other good teams hanging around.

Probably so for the foreseeable future. Florida and Alabama have the two best coaches in college football and are consistently top 5 recruiters. LSU, UGA and Auburn are within striking distance but seem unlikely this year. Can't speak for LSU and Auburn but Georgia looks good on offense but a Freshman QB, Murray, makes for a big question mark. The defense might be improved with Grantham at the helm but the question is how much but it's hard to image it being much worse than last season. I just think Myer and Saban are too intense, consistent and good as long as they keep getting top recruits.

Saban had some dead weight to get rid of.

LOL, why would we have a big drop off in 2011? Cause we lose GMac?
Right now Alabama and Florida are clearly the two strongest programs. But things change. LSU has a unique situation among other SEC teams, they're the only school that has no in-state competition and a quality recruiting base. They obviously have massively underachieved the last few years but the potential is always there.

How could anyone really believe this. After only two years of dominance, it's only a two team league? Two years is a very small sample.
Look at the last ten years. The SEC has had six nat'l championships by four seperate teams. With two other teams, GA and AU barely missing out on the BCSNG.

We'll also lose Dareus, Ingram, Barron, Julio, Hightower, Hanks, Maze.. maybe more. I can see a drop-off maybe. It will depend on guys like Damien Square, Trent Richardson, new young receivers, McCarron, etc.

totally agree...as GREAT as these 2 programs are they will both be plugging in a lot of new faces over the 2 years. They both have been riding SO high that it would be near impossible to maintain level of success (0-1 losses every reg season) in a conference that is full of teams with great athletes (albeit not as deep as those two).
