Not true. This region has a lot of talent and Ohio State usually gets whoever they want.

Wasn't Burrow before the portal though?

"The portal launched on October 15, 2018"

"Burrow transferred to Louisiana State University (LSU) on May 18, 2018."

Looks like right before according to google. Close enough

Remember that part of the hangover where they drop the tiger off at Tysons and then they are diving back talking about how nice Mike tyson was, and Alan is sitting in the backseat with a big arse shiner, and he says "i think he's mean"....thats how I feel about the portal after Lincoln riley.

The portal and NIL are what will save the sport. You can’t have a sport that stays popular where the same teams are protected by the NCAA to buy players. That’s where we were and of course many SEC programs loved it.

It’s why Saban retired and you’ll see Kirby retire way before he would have now that their advantage is gone and he’ll start feeling the heat as losses occur.

Sure, we’ll still have teams who pay to dominate but that’s not the point. The point is now ANY team can choose to it without fear of NCAA probation or a death penalty.

Just a couple years ago UGA beat my team, GT, 45-0. It was a total talent mismatch. This year it took them 8 overtimes. Why? Because UGA lost depth to the portal that normally allows them to throttle teams in the 2nd half and GT has been able to buy a SEC QB and 4 star linemen and others. The portal and NIL is the best thing to happen to the other 85% of teams. But I understand why the 15% hate it. I’d hate it to if my perennial 11 win team suddenly drops down.

And still can't beat Michigan, even when they have a 5 loss mediocre team.

There are plenty of ways to improve the sport without changing the fundamental aspects of it, but that would require people to understand basic aspects of both the finances and collegiate aspects of the game, two things the portal and NIL are making even worse.

The portal is great because it spreads the talent around. NIL is great because it’s an above board bagman system that can be used by all and not just the protected class.

Give it a 10 year period and the data will easily show the difference in the preportal/preNIL eras.

I totally understand fans on this board of the big teams like LSU, Bama, and UGA hate both, but the reality is you guys see in your own programs how your depth has been thinned out (which means other teams have those players) and how other teams can now recruit the same class of player that the bagman system was able to get.
