Or else he was listening to the coach talk to him.

What was he saying "Extra ten grand if you spot the ball at the first down marker"?

Actually, the ruling on the field was that the ball was fumbled out of bounds.

Doesn't account for the fact that the guy who stripped the ball was touching the sideline when he stripped the ball.....this should have resulted in the ball being ruled out of bounds

So the ref is cheating by making the correct call?

Seriously? Here's the definitive video. Love the Bama fans who think the knee wasn't down.

In and out of bounds is clearly a possession thing. I really don't know the rule when you are stripping the ball since you aren't possessing the ball.

I am grateful that the SEC has officials that are willing to make a correction in an effort to make the right call. It would be tragic to penalize a team that puts out as much effort as Bama does by marking the spot wrong and leaving it be..just to appease message board people. I hope that this off week will provide Saban an opportunity to meet with officials and go over their errors in originally missing Cooper's 1st Td and improper reversal of the fumble resulting in Ole Miss ball. I expect a much better 2nd half of the season in relation to the positive attentiveness of these hard working professionals as they effectively regulate the game.

This ref didn't spot the forward progress. He was lining up with another ref that was letting him know where to forward progress stopped and the other ref was telling him to move the ball forward where the real spot was........

The spot wasn't even the bad part. The ref's shuffle foot is fricking laughable.

Doesn't account for the fact that your receivers can score TD's without being in bounds.

Thanks for this, it was actually helpful. This Bama fan agrees that it looks like his knee hit on the right side of the 0 and he was just short of the first down. I have no knowledge of what happened with the spot, whether it was audio direction from another ref or if the REC paid each ref $10,000 before the game to make these calls, like some of you like to think.

All I know for sure from this chain of events is that the LSU fanbase has some pretty significant demons they should deal with. To focus this much attention on one spot in an opening drive against an inferior opponent that had zero bearing in a game LSU did not play in, it’s just inexplicable. Like I said everyone bitches about calls that don’t go their way, but this uproar over other school’s games has no precedent outside of LSU.

whats laughable is how so many of you actually seem to think refs are either deliberately or intentionally giving alabama a first down on the first possession of a game against Ol Miss. What would be the point?

I wonder if people realize how much of a bitch they look like when they cry about refs. It's VERY unbecoming.

Congrats, Bobby Moore, you are the only one who is capable of thinking rationally about this.

If at any time someone out of bounds touches a free ball....the ball is ruled out of bounds. Possession doesn't matter.

Then why are there OM players and coaches on the Alabama sideline?

That's the bigger conspiracy.
