True.
Rantards don't appreciate what Miles has accomplished so I guess Spurrier would be a failure in their eyes too.

Not so fast.
Didn't they go from 0-11 to 8-4 with him?

True, but they never won more than 8 games with Holtz, and went 6-5 in his final year.
Spurrier had to build the program from nearly the ground up.

Holtz is the one who truly built it from the ground up. They were 1-11 before he got there and he left the program in far better shape.
Spurrier wasn't winning big until he was able to get the best players in the state - Gilmore, Lattimore, Clowney, etc. That's when they started becoming a force in the East.

he's well on his way to being the winning coach in USCe history.
some forget that they were essentially another Kentucky before he arrived there.

SEC rant is a bit feisty this morning, must be all the new board that has been banned from other sites

Holz was 33-37 at USCe. I know they had a couple of decent years while he was there, but nothing like what Spurrier has built.

Spurrier won SEC Coach of the Year in 2010. That's the year USCe won the...uh...well, apparently the other SEC coaches thought he deserved it over the other choices.

Spurrier will win 1 NC at USCe before he leaves.
I don't see that happening. He only won one NC when he was destroying the SEC at Florida and even that NC required a ton of luck to happen (Arizona State losing on a last minute TD to Ohio State in the Rose Bowl, Ohio State losing against Michigan in the last weekend of the season, Nebraska losing as 3 TD favorites to Texas in the Big XII Championship Game because most of their team was afflicted with the stomach flu AND a win in a rematch to the team they lost to in the last game of the season).

Seriously?
This isn't even a question. We were slightly better than Kentucky before he got here. Say what you want about us and we may never win a SEC, let alone a NC (although our schedule shapes up well next year), but we have won 10 games in back to back seasons for the first time ever.
People are upset that we only won 10 games this year....its the 3rd time in 114 years we have won 10 games. That alone should answer your question.
We have one of the most dominant players in the game and are recruiting at a higher level than ever before, I doubt that would be happening if Brad Scott was roaming the sidelines.

Holtz took over a much tougher situation though. Brad Scott wrecked their program to such an extent that Holtz went 0-11 in his first year there. At one point, USC had a 21 game losing streak. Think of all the bad programs in the SEC right now. To make a comparison, Kentucky's longest losing streak under Joker Phillips was eight games. USC's losing streak was over 2.5 times as long. That's how bad they were. Spurrier took over a way better situation than Holtz did.

Holtz did a very very good job at USCe. Let's just leave it at that. Anyone who doesn't think so is just too young.

The point was not to rag on Lisping Lou, but to compare his record to Spurrier's. I think Spurrier has done more during his tenure.

He's beaten UGA three times in a row, so yes,
he's been a colossal failure.

If you people could just realize all the firsts he's accomplished here, y'all would be blown away. Not just by the fact that he did them, but the fact that they had never been done before.
For example, we've been ranked for 40+ straight weeks, a school record by far.

He claimed that after beating Clemson a couple weeks ago. Rex Enright had won 64. He was 64-69-7. Spurrier has 65 wins. And not near as many losses.

I'm sorry the OP even created this thread. The rest of us on planet Earth are very aware that Spurrier has been extremely successful at USCe.

Lou Holtz really doesn't get enough credit for what he did at South Carolina. They went from 0-11 in 1999 to 8-4 in 2000 to 9-3 in 2001. Yeah...he had two back to back losing seasons in '02 and '03 but he had successfully stabilized that program. Spurrier walked into a gold mine in 2004/2005 compared to what Holtz walked into in 1998/1999.
